Get ready to experience the ultimate mountain getaway at this stunning, spacious home located in Durango. Just a short 15-minute drive from downtown and 20 minutes from the ski resort, this grand house offers a multitude of amenities for a large group gathering. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by breathtaking mountain views and a sprawling front yard, complete with a variety of outdoor games like croquet and badminton. If relaxation is what you seek, unwind in the private outdoor hot tub on the back deck, or immerse yourself in the charming farmhouse-themed interior with an array of entertainment options including books, movies, music, and games. The fully stocked kitchen and expansive plantation dining table make meal times a joyous occasion, while the living room boasts a cozy gas fireplace and a pool table for indoor entertainment. Three bedrooms can be found on the main floor, two of which feature Queen beds and share a Jack and Jill bath, and the third offering a futon with access to the deck and hot tub. As you ascend to the second floor, you'll find the remaining bedrooms, including two impressive Master Suites. One Master Suite features a King bed, a sofa sleeper, a gas fireplace, an in-room TV, a walk-in closet, and a private balcony with a picturesque view of the front yard and red cliffs. This suite also has its own private bathroom with a double vanity, large jetted tub, and standing shower. An additional Twin rollaway bed can be found in this room as well. The second Master Suite also offers a King bed, a futon, an in-room TV, and a private bath with a tub/shower. Another bedroom on the same floor features two Twin beds that can be converted into a King bed if desired*. The final bedroom on this floor is perfect for the kids with two Twin over Full bunk beds and a futon, along with an in-room TV. A full shared bathroom with a double vanity and standing shower is also located on this floor. For added convenience, there are washers and dryers on both the lower and upper levels of the home. Parking is available for up to 10 vehicles in the driveway. AC is available in the living room, the two upstairs master suites, and between the lower bedrooms downstairs.

This home is dog friendly. Approved Dogs are allowed with a non-refundable fee per pet based on size/type. Please let us know about your pet(s) when inquiring or making your reservation. Perfect location between Purg and Durango. All 5 adults were comfortable. Neighborhood is a bit on the interesting side, but all was fine.

Fantastic Family and Friends Retreat!

Our group of four families (16 total) had a fantastic three day weekend. The tall spruce house could easily have accommodated six more people! Tons of great space here. Great big kitchen and dining area to gather. Everything was fantastic, and the manager gave us a heads up about all the little nuances to be aware of as we got 33 inches of snow! Thanks!

Great house and location, could use some TLC

We had a wonderful time at the house with 19 people. As other reviews stated the kitchen is well stocked, but we wish there had been an electric griddle for pancakes. There was a plethora of games, movies, yard toys, books, puzzles, and anything you would want to do. There was new carpet in all the bedrooms which was very nice and plenty of beds and bedding for our whole group. We had some little ones in our group so we stuck around the house quite a bit. All the grandkids loved the hot tub and playing in the huge front yard. The kitchen cupboards could use a good scrubbing, many of the windows didn't open and the air conditioning in in just 3 rooms. There are MANY notes and rules around the house, and the instructions on how to keep the house cool did work for us, but the hottest day was just 85 degrees. We didn't like that toilet paper wasn't provided and we had to buy that. The porch, firepit, and yard furniture are great and we loved the location. Close enough to Durango so you could get there in just minutes but far enough away that we didn't have traffic or noise. I would recommend this house and we may stay there again if we go back to Durango with our family.

Tall Spruce House

The property was great. Management not so much. Watches everything you do will text you if you put an inflatable kiddy pool on the lawn to remove it even if it was only on lawn a few hrs because it might kill the lawn because its happened in the past, will call 30 min after you leave to find out what supposed red spots in the white/ light carpet is so they know how to treat it. Makes you feel like you are watched all the time and makes you feel you didn't take care of the property even if you go above and beyond the rules to leave it clean and respected. House was a 9 management a 4

Family trip Durango

Great space with plenty of room for our family group of 18. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and the large front yard and deck. The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed for cooking and the outside grills worked great. Most of our questions/concerns were addressed in a timely manner. Our last night a mouse came out from under the oven and there were droppings under the oven. Otherwise the house was very clean. There were some minor overall maintenance issues…many outlets did not work, a couple of upstairs sinks drained very slowly and shower door in the smaller master bath upstairs fell out of the track.

Amazing place

We were a group of 15 and this property was perfect. It had everything we needed and the location is ideal for skiing and hitting the hot springs after. Definitely would come back.

New Year Family Vacay

We were very happy with the layout of the property. The rooms and bathrooms were comfortable and spread out enough for privacy. Loved the large kitchen and dining table. Enjoyed the hot tub as well as the pool table and gaming area. The master suite was spacious and having the extra room made it more relaxing. The property is easy to get too and just far enough out of town to feel like you are out in countryside.

Great House for large group!

Big Beautiful house in great location! We enjoyed our stay here! This house was clean, has lots of room for a large group and a well stocked kitchen. The teens had lots of fun using the ping pong, fuse ball & pool tables. We would definitely stay here again!!

Wonderful House for Our Family

My children, grandchildren, and I stayed at this beautiful house for five days this past July. We enjoyed the time spent here. The house was clean and spacious. The rooms were attractively decorated. It was perfect for a large extended family. We loved the tall windows looking out at the mountains.The kitchen was one of the most well-stocked kitchens we've ever had while staying in homes.. The second fridge/freezer in the garage next to the kitchen was a great help. The house had toys and games for the kids. The garage had fun games and activities for the kids to play with outside. We especially loved the two outside patios. We loved playing board games on the large front patio table while the kids played on the huge lawn. I can recommend this house as a great place to stay.

Great space for large family!

Extended family stayed here for a week for an event in Durango. The setting was beautiful! There were several living spaces inside and out that allowed us to spread out when needed, but also gather together for meals. The kitchen was well-stocked with all of the dishes and utensils we needed, and some extra items we hadn’t expected—a very pleasant surprise! We did have to get a little creative with sleeping arrangements since our group was mostly adults, but the futons, roll-away beds, and foam mattress topper all helped make it work out! We definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend for other large families!

Perfect for our hiking family reunion!

This home was close enough to town yet far enough away to enjoy the red cliffs. We had the perfect number of bedrooms and we were able to cookout one night and enjoy the well appointed kitchen and huge dining room!!

Family Vacation

We had our whole family together at Tall Spruce Tree House and we had a wonderful time. The house and yard easily accommodated us and the kids had a great time playing outside. What a beautiful area and home! We enjoyed exploring Durango and the train ride to Silverton was a highlight. We all felt comfortable and at home, thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Very spacious home, great for large groups

Pros: The home was beautiful and more than enough space for our group of 10 to move freely throughout the houses without feeling like we are on top of each other. House was fully stocked with more than enough cookware, dishes, utensils, and glasses to make home cooked meals without any issues. Home is equipped with lots of things to keep everybody entertained. Cons: the beds were pretty bad and left the majority of the group with back pain by the end of our 4 night stay. The house has SO many rules…. No shoes allowed in the house, no eating OR drinking in the living/ game room (but there is a mini fridge and the pool table is there?). They have a pretty hefty check out process where you are expected to do at least 2 loads of laundry (for towels) and you cannot leave a load running in the washer when you leave, only the dryer. They also expect you to shock the hot tub every day after you use the hot tub….. they do state they can deduct $$ from your deposit if rules aren’t followed… Overall though, we had a nice stay here with a beautiful view of a snow covered mountain. Location was good, about 20 min from both downtown and Purgatory. We were just not prepared for such strict rules once we actually got there.

Excellent Home

We were three generations including two families with friends and one older person. The home accommodated us very comfortably. The house is well-appointed and was extremely clean. It sits halfway between Durango and Purgatory. They provided snow removal. We would all recommend it!

All the comforts of home

This beautiful, spacious compound was home base for our family for a few days. Close to downtown durango and to all the gorgeous hiking trails. Our family made lots of wonderful memories!

First time in Durango family vaca

The property is in a great location and had plenty of room for the 15 of us to have together time and our own space. The kitchen is well stocked including grills and many items you may need for cooking. There are lots of games, toys, and things to do at the house so if you didn’t want to leave there would be plenty to do. We rode the train, went to Mesa Verde and hung out in the historic part of Durango all of this was within a doable distance to the house. We did bring two tiny dogs with no issue and there were a few baby gates in the garage available for use. There are stairs to the second floor but also in several bedrooms so the gates are really important for babies. There was a high chair available in the garage as well. We brought our 16 month old daughter for reference and had no issues. We would definitely return… not only to Durango but to this house! Beautiful views, beautiful location and beautiful property. If there was one thing to be aware of, the front yard is long but there is no fence and the traffic moves pretty quickly on the road in front of the house. The front yard is where you hang out as the back yard is really just a hill… we managed but if there was a fence in the front that would have made me feel a little safer with dogs and kids. I read reviews about the in house temp, we had no issue. It was pretty warm outside during the day and we felt comfortable in the house. We opened the windows in the evening and it felt great.
