Just outside town, Benmore Botanic Garden (7 miles) is a peaceful paradise featuring lofty redwoods and colourful flora. Pull on your walking boots and head off on the woodland trail at Puck's Glen (6 miles), which winds through a mossy gorge past waterfalls and quiet pools. It feels like stepping into a storybook, especially with the local legends of forest spirits in the air.
