"For the first time ever in 30 years of traveling we walked out. Let’s start with first impressions. The smell in the lobby was terrible, a mix of mustiness, pot, cleaning products and a large bird cage. Then the stairwell to the second floor was somehow worse with carpet that obviously hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. On the second floor we passed a kid who was housekeeping barefoot and shirtless, no joke, carrying armloads of sheets with no shirt on! I thought we still had a health...

"Cozy house by Chautauqua Lake in a little private neighborhood. The house is a little dated (70s vintage), but clean and nice. The host is super cool, always responsive and helpful. The kitchen is well stocked with pans, appliances, dishes, Brita filtered water, and a few extras like coffee, sugar, oil, and spices. Cooking there was great. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom has been renovated. The area is quiet and relaxing, and close to the Chautauqua Institute (the reason for my visit;)...

"This cottage was cute and comfortable. The beachy decor was tasteful and fun. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and neat. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and anything we needed. We felt very safe here. The location worked well for us and we were able to get to various locations easily. This is a central location, so we were able to easily drive to local attractions - even Presque Isle.Pots and pans are available; bring your own storage containers/sandwich bags/foil.Be sure to visit the fresh eggs and vegetable stand on the left as you head into Mayville! :)"
