Everything! I arrived at the site after 8 pm and found it was impossible to check in to my room. There was no one to answer the on site phone and no one answered or responded to my voice mail on an emergency phone number that I found clipped on the back door. (The note was removed the next day and never replaced) After paying a second hotel for my first night in Ormond Beach, I did check in the next day. None of the staff asked why I didn’t stay the first night. None cared. The room smelled - my wife and couldn’t agree on how to describe the smell but it wasn’t a clean fresh smell. Towels were old and past their prime. Their towel policy is bring them a dirty towel and they would swap it for a clean one (just as mediocre as the dirty, just washed more recently). I asked a staff member how to get clean towels and she did not volunteer to bring any to use. We were supposed to stay a week and the staff did not enter the room for any reason during our stay. I guess the highlight of the stay was that our rental car wasn’t broken into. We had enough and left a day early. When I went to let a staff member know we were leaving early (11:30 am Sunday) the office door was locked. A guy showed up & I told him we were checking out early and he didn’t ask why. Just another person who couldn’t have cared less. But they did keep the money I paid for 2 nights in the room that we didn’t use, 1st because I couldn’t, last night cause we stayed at a real hotel. Never again for the Chateaux.
