Incredible Tented Cabin with Fantastic Vistas in Conner, Montana
Perched on a hill in Montana's picturesque Bitterroot Valley sits a cozy cabin and two wall tents that features exceptional views in every direction. Watch wildlife from your tent, enjoy fishing in the Bitterroot River, head into the forest for hunting, foraging, off-roading, and horseback riding, enjoy skiing at Lost Trail, or just relax around the campfire and watch the stars fill the night sky.
With a perfect view of Sula Peak, Tent #1 is a 12x14 canvas tent featuring 5 steps up to a patio, a comfortable king bed complete with linen, and cozy woodstove with free firewood.
Wi-fi is free, and the tent has one power strip for electronics.
Guests have access to nearby potable water and a communal composting toilet. Patio chairs, propane barbecue, and a communal picnic table are at the campsite for your enjoyment.
Relax with your favorite beverage on the patio overlooking Sula Peak and enjoy the sounds of nature.
The tents are located in nature and while we work hard to ensure nature stays outside, please be prepared for the possibility of nature occasionally sneaking inside. We don’t refund for bugs or critters but If you should see some during your stay, contact us immediately and we will come take care of things for you as best we can.
FRESH WATER:
The Bitterroot River provides camp with fresh potable water from a spigot along the driveway near the cabin. A washtub, soap and sponge are available for washing dishes and refilling water bottles.
TOILET:
A compost toilet is currently available for tent campers but will soon be replaced by a bath house featuring a working toilet, sink, shower, and laundry.
WOODSTOVE:
The tent’s woodstove does a magnificent job keeping campers warm. Free firewood, kindling and fire starters are provided. Feel free to cook on the woodstove using the cast-iron pan (oil is provided on the table in each tent).
FIREPIT:
Toss wood into the firepit to enjoy a contained fire any time burning is allowed (per county burn rules).
TRASH:
When your trash gets full, please deposit it in the black garbage can next to the toilet tent.
PARKING:
Parking is available right next to each tent.
PETS:
Pets are welcome and may sleep inside the tent but not on the bed unless you bring your own blanket for them to sleep on.
HORSES:
Pack and trail horses are welcome though no fence is available. Please secure horses to your vehicle or trailer when not riding and secure inside trailer at night. Water is available. Please bring own hay and feed.
ABOUT US:
Situated on 6 acres in the southern end of the beautiful Bitterroot valley in western Montana, Oxen-Le-Fields was created by Lynda Cheldelin Fell and her husband Jamie as a small campground to share the peaceful setting with others.
Named after Jamie's paternal family estate in England, Oxen-Le-Fields is a work in progress. Purchased in 2023, it started with a cozy cabin with magnificent views flanked by the national forest. In the summer of 2024, Jamie erected two 12 x 14 cabin tents, both with a stunning view of Sula Peak. A new bathhouse for tent campers is scheduled to be finished by October 2025. A livestock barn and fenced pastures are scheduled for spring 2026, with plans for a variety of miniature livestock for campers to enjoy.
Jamie & Lynda live on site in the toy hauler/camper. Lynda’s father, a retired engineer, designed the family lodge with plans to break ground in 2026.
Parents of four and grandparents of two, Lynda is an accomplished grief and trauma educator, and author of over 40 books including the award-winning Grief Diaries anthology series. Jamie suffered a major stroke at the young age of 46, forcing him to retire from an accomplished career in commercial development.
With a love for camping coupled with Jamie's construction background, they set their hearts on creating a small campground so others can experience what they enjoy every day . . . fresh air, lots of sunshine, abundant wildlife, a night sky filled with bright stars, and a relaxed way of life.
In the short time since opening in fall 2024, campers from around the world have stayed at Oxen-Le-Fields, including Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, England, Sri Lanka, France, Australia, Singapore, China, Germany, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, India, Canada, and Mexico.
