"The hotel was quite run down, with chipping paint, and trim, bubbles on the ceiling where leaks had happened, a dirty bathtub and a noisy refrigerator that sounded like a running truck. When it stopped, it sounded like the truck ran over a dozen coke bottles. The furnishings looked 50 years old, with dings and scratches. "We were in Room 220. The door was ajar when we got there. The carpet was wet. The light by the door was very dim. I went to turn on the light by the bed and the nob to turn the switch was broken. The other lights in the room was for the bathroom sink and the toilet/tub area. I took the lamp from the bed area to the front desk and asked for another. There were none available. Maintenance came by about 10 minutes later with a lamp for the bedside and he noticed we did not have a desk lamp. He came...
