Fitzgerald Cottage CBD

This stunning property has been lovingly recreated and rebuilt from scratch to the exact architectural specifications of the 19th century house once at this site. The new cottage encompasses the quaint look, high stud and roominess of the old, but also incorporates the insulation, modern outfitting and comfort of the new.

From the moment you drive your car behind the drive's unique electric gates you enter a safe haven in the city. Before you the light, airy Zen garden designed by the owner and actioned by the master landscaper Lindsay Philps from GoFar Landscaping Company. Pause at this unique, private vista knowing it is yours to enjoy for the duration of your stay.

Once inside the house, explore the 2 generous bedrooms, living area, well-appointed galley kitchen and the "has it all" bathroom. Double-glazed sash windows, ceiling roses and ornate fire-surrounds create a sense of atmosphere harking back to a less stressful era. This attention to detail is, these days, somehow absent in most modern spec homes. Built to last, built to impress, built for safety.

This regenerating area of Christchurch is close to everything. You can start every day with a quick walk to Little Poms cafe for a wonderful breakfast and brunch and later meander down to the famous Pomeroys Public bar and restaurant. Or, by car, continue along Kilmore Street and within two or three minutes you are in the exciting Casino precinct with its Victoria Street dining and bars.
Once you have finished with your evening's activities retire to Fitzgerald Cottage, pop some of your favourite music on through the bluetooth-able sound system and relax in the warmth and comfort of your Christchurch haven.

Great place/ great location

Wonderful little cottage in the city center. There is a bus stop literally in front of the house! But everything is a short walk to downtown, or local parks. But the house itself and the grounds are absolutely adorable. Immaculately clean, and wonderfully maintained. I would recommend this in a heartbeat. The only drawback was that we were not there longer.

This gorgeous cottage has become our go-to Christchurch stay. A beautifully cared for character home that is an easy flat walk to all the bars and restaurants. Danielle has thought of everything you could possibly need. Such a lovely contrast to the miles of new townhouses and just as comfortable. Will look forward to our next stay :)

Comfortable in Christchurch

Spacious and comfortable residence in Christchurch with all the amenities. Simple and secure access to the property, with space for one vehicle parked off street next to the house. Very good communication with the owner with no surprises. The property is well cared for, very clean, and with a small binder of information about the house, the neighborhood and the city. Would definitely stay here again for a subsequent visit to the city.

Perfection in Christchurch

What a hidden gem. Fitzgerald cottage had everything we needed; it really is a hidden oasis in the middle of the CBD. My adult daughter commented that she wished she was friends with the owner as she has "the best taste ever" in decorating. Everything was comfortable, clean and just overall fantastic. Communication was great and we will definitely try to stay here again when next in Christchurch. Thank you for allowing us to stay here.

Hidden Gem

Staying here was incredible. The decor inside of the home was unique and clearly done by someone who has an eye for colour schemes. Even though there are touches that I would not include in my home, I loved the colours inside ever room of the house. The kitchen was immaculate. It was new and fully stocked as well. We arrived with most of the things we needed to cook but the owners provided everything you need if you come unprepared.The bathroom was also well-stocked and just a great space to pamper yourself. The shower is exceptional. Overall, we loved this place and it gave us the opportunity to stay near town (a 20 minute walk) without being right in the heart of it all.

All the amenities you need

We stayed here before and were thrilled to come back. It is a spacious and comfortable location. We made dinner, did laundry, had a soak in the tub, and even played a few games of lawn chess! Highly recommended.

Charming cottage in a great location

We spent two nights in Fitzgerald Cottage following our arrival in Christchurch and before picking up a camper van to tour the South Island. The home is thoughtfully decorated and full of comforting touches. The gas fireplace quickly dissipated the morning chill. The recently renovated bath is luxurious. It's an easy walk to town centre; public transport is also available literally outside the gate. The owner provides clear and comprehensive instructions regarding arrival, departure and use of all systems. We would happily stay here again.
