"We started our NZ vacation here after landing in Christchurch and it was the perfect start. The pub served wonderful appetizers and desserts. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the bay--great for settling in and relaxation. The pool was cooler than I hoped. Breakfast is self-serve with limited but thoughtful options. Sharing facilities wasn't a problem, but there weren't many other guests during our stay. Staff was warmly welcoming and very accommodating. "

"This is a great wee gem of a motel. spotlessly clean and Anna who welcomes you is super helpful, friendly and very easy to converse with. Although it is close to the street it is surprisingly not that noisy. I highly recommend this motel...and it is so affordable."

"Despite having worked in a prison, this iconic venue brought home a taste of the reality even with comfortable beds and the freedom to come and go. It's not the staff's fault, but some inmates need to learn the meaning of the silent period routine. Glad we came back for a second stay, even though the setting has lost its novelty value for us... "Very clean, great location for sightseeing. Tram route, Quake City, Memorial Wall and Botanical gardens all within easy walking distance, to name but a few. Friendly and helpful staff, although some minor communication issues. Good breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast and a choice of Bacon and eggs or eggs Benedict, plus juice, teas and coffees. Easy parking too. "
