I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at RIU Palace Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Unfortunately, the condition of the resort and our accommodations fell far below what I expected from the RIU brand, particularly for a property marketed as an all-inclusive resort experience. Upon arrival, we were informed that we had been given a complimentary room upgrade. Naturally, we appreciated the gesture and expected the upgraded accommodations to enhance our stay. Unfortunately, what was presented as an “upgrade” ended up being one of the most disappointing aspects of our experience. The upgraded room had serious cleanliness and maintenance issues. We found a roach in the room, and the bedding had multiple strands of random hair on it, which immediately made us question whether the room and linens had been properly cleaned before our arrival. The bed itself was also extremely uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The room simply did not feel clean, comfortable, or representative of an upgraded accommodation. Even more troubling, the toilet in our upgraded room did not function properly. In order to flush it, we had to remove the toilet seat/lid and manually push a button inside the toilet to refill the bowl with water before it would flush. This was not a minor inconvenience. Having to manually manipulate a toilet just to make it functional is completely unacceptable for any hotel room.

A entire week stay long, never had turn down service, daily cleaning service was poor and toilet amenities were not repositionned. The acondicioner was never replaced. I requested more towels, never came. Security lockers in both doors in the room and balcony were brocken. Bed linen first night was not fresh ... Really looked usted. Although I complaint never had turn down service or better assistance. Ineficient staff, poor cleaning and horrible food and NO service. All is extremely expensive and pay taxes and resort fee for nothing. One day towels in the beach were finished! All is closed at 6pm you cannot use pool or beach later. I Will never go for vacation here.

The room, surrounding, beach and pool where well-kept and maintained. However there isn't much to do outside the compound as it is away from local shops and downtown. Generally friendly staff, although I did had a distasteful phone interaction with one receptionist while reporting an incident in our room, but after insisting that it has to be dealt with, management stepped in and rectified it. Overall My wife and I had a good and relaxing stay.
