Though the retreat once offered a slight ocean view between two distant buildings, nature’s touch has since enhanced the scene with flourishing palm trees, providing just a fleeting glimpse of the ocean’s grandeur. However, the charm of Bob’s Island Retreat extends beyond the sea view, with two balconies that allow you to soak in the natural beauty surrounding the property. The front balcony whispers the presence of the nearby ocean, while the rear balcony offers a stunning view of the marshland. Here, during particularly large high tides, the marsh transforms into an enchanting water landscape, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop for your stay.

Wonderful getaway for long holiday weekend. Short trip from Raleigh Durham. Easy access to beach, close to drivable beach access if you have 4 wheeled drive. Easy walk to Carolina Boardwalk for the teenagers. Clean condo with full amenities and a pool. Beautiful porches and view of the sound. Perfect for families.

We were at Bobs Island Retreat at the end of July. We absolutely LOVED everything about the property. The condo was clean, had fantastic decor and had everthing we needed for our stay. We enjoyed our time so much that as soon as we were able to come back, we did! This week did not disappoint. We took advantage of the beach near the condo, which was a change from our stay in July as we had other family staying near the boardwalk. It was nice being close to the beach. Our host was available as he had been last time and was reasonable and accommodating and house rules were clearly stated. We are hoping to make this a regular vaction spot. Thank you so much for the use of your fabulous condo.

We enjoyed our stay at Bob’s condo. It is conveniently located a block off the beach that has a beachside restaurant/tiki bar on the pier. The condo was very clean and homey. We really enjoyed sitting on the front and back balconies. The condo had all of the supplies we needed. The condo had a clear list of check out duties. We would stay here again.

Very clean and well appointed condo! This is the best pet friendly location we have had the opportunity to stay in. Everything was clean, and if not new- very well taken care of. Extremely comfortable and has everything you need to make it your home away from home. Decor is laid back and eclectic- so fun! the location is perfect- very short walk to the beach and the pool is right next door- and was almost always empty!! Stay here and you will not be disppointed! Thank you Bob for sharing your perfect place!!!

Overall great experience. Place had everything needed- games, kitchen fully stocked, washer and dryer in unit, big front porch for relaxing, back porch overlooking marshland. Quick walk to beach and pier with a fun tiki bar and restaurant. Owner was very responsive. Really enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Bob's Retreat! Bob had everything we needed. The condo was very clean, great for dogs, and comfortable. The walk to the beach was easy, and we enjoyed the sunsets over the marsh. There are only two beds in the condo so I brought a blowup mattress for one of my kids, and it fit well in the Master Bedroom. The appliances are new, and the washing machine, dryer and AC worked well. Bob was easily reached if we had questions. One of the best perks of this condo was the pool. The pool is well-maintained and was rarely busy. It was great to have a place to swim when the ocean currents were too strong. We also recommend having dinner at Havana's, and if your into boating, renting a pontoon boat for 1/2-full day from Carolina Beach Pontoon Boat Rental. We spent a morning boating to Masonboro Island with our kids and dogs which was very fun. All in all, we had a great time and would highly recommend a stay here!

Condo was very neat and clean. The place seemed to have been recently freshened up inside. Newer floors. Newer cabinets. New appliances. New bathrooms. If not it’s very well maintained. First floor is a plus. Pool is convenient to have in case the ocean is too rough for the kids. The beach access is a short one block walk. The pier and tiki bar also a short walk away. The additional parking lot is great because we had a full size truck and a full size suv. One 4 door full size truck will take up almost the whole drive way. Overall great place to stay. Will definitely stay here again!

Our group loved our stay at Bob’s! From the great location to the beach and the pool at the condo as well as the view of the marsh from the porch we had the perfect weekend getaway! We also enjoyed all of the unique decor pieces in the unit and all of the updated appliances.

This was a wonderful place to stay at Carolina Beach. It was neatly appointed and had everything thoughtfully provided (binoculars, toiletries, first aid items, dryer sheets, hose downstairs...and the list goes on). Location of condo slightly misleading as it is technically on the 2nd row but with 2 streets and 3 rows of homes between. Traffic on street in front of condo slightly annoying/loud. Place was comfortable with the exception of cheap rickety chairs at table that we were afraid to sit in for fear of their breaking. Secondly, the water pressure in the shower (especially the master)was extremely puny, requiring VERY long showers to get shampoo out of hair. Walk to the beach wasn't bad, and could drive up to walkway at beach opening for drop offs, if needed(we had elderly folks with us). Some difficulty reaching Bob and never located the checkout process info. Whole island is parking insane(places down at boardwalk are a flat fee of $25/day!) but can avoid fees walking to pier and Freeman Park easily from condo where have free parking for 2 cars. FYI, neighbor highly recommended eating at the Deck House but it was over priced for barely mediocre food and appalling service. Skip it! All in all, we loved it albeit an unreasonable amount of fees tacked on. He's definitely not losing $$ on this baby! Regardless of previously mentioned issues, would come back.

We haven't been on a beach vacation in at least 5 years. We loved this property. The beds were comfortable, the beach was easy to access, the AC worked well, parking space was right under the unit, front porch faces toward the beach, back is right over the marsh and had views of the canal. Very dog friendly. We had a blast.
