The place is OK as a base which we used it for whilst we were in the area. The food was nice with the added beneit of a Gluten free menu and they do have separate prep areas for food. Rooms nice, although a little dated and some need a little attention in places. Reasonably priced for both food and drink, service can be a little slow at times. Bar area gets busy we tended to sit in the restaurant area as it was more quieter. Breakfasts tasty, good selection of food and hot food if you want it too. Outside is a little tired and garden could do with a bit of attention - overal was an OK stay.

Parking was brilliant as the overflow was close to our room. Bed was super comfy and good shower. Staff friendly and breakfast really yummy.

Check in was good. Shown to stairs to get to the room. Breakfast layout was explained and asked if we'd book a table for dinner. Room was at front of property facing busy road(noisy). Room ok for a 1 night stay. Food was ok but a bit rushed for some reason as not busy. Breakfast quantity very good. Overall a pleasant stay. Think the property could do with a spruce up.

Wir hatten einen kurzen, aber sehr schönen Aufenthalt, als Zwischenstopp für eine Nacht auf unserer Reise. Das Zimmer war klein, aber wirklich fein, mit gemütlichem Bett und sehr ruhig nach hinten raus. Das Frühstück war einfach, aber gut. Die Nähe zur Dartmoor Otters and Butteflies ist unschlagbar.

Lovely Place to Stay

Lovely Place to Stay. Nicely decorated, great bathroom, cosy and quiet, very comfortable. Great staff, great location. Plenty of parking.

all clean staff briliant and smiling , rooms clean twin beds a bit over soft , but cosy for many someone needs to paint the top of stairs fire door its been scratched to death gives a poor image when everything else is very good there can be road noise but they even supply earplugs if you want them , tea and coffee fine refilled each day meals are good value and well presented full english breaky to die for included pl

Nice place to stay

The food was lovely and the bar and restaurant were nice. Breakfasts were really nice and all staff were friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the road noise at night.

Friendly hotel

Nice enough hotel for a couple of nights. Decent food and a comfortable room albeit the traffic noise was a little intrusive. Staff were friend and Nicole an absolute star.

The staff were excellent hosts and assisted us with in person enquiries but a couple of emails i sent prior to check in went unanswered. Yes, room 12 we stayed in was rather noisey ( even at night )being on the main road side but earplugs were provided. I don't know what the other rooms are like. I did manage to fall asleep till about 4.30am. The floors boards in the room and just outside in the corridor creaked and felt unstable when walked on. The bathroom was a little on the small side but it was adequate and spotless. The mattresses have springs and gave us both sore backs in the mornings. The pillows are rather flat. The walk to the number 88 bus stop takes about 20 minutes and is rather precarious taking you over a motorway and slip road. The other option would have been a cab which apparently is not advisable due to a number of reasons. The food we had at dinner and for breakfast was good and the servers were really nice. The room temperature was just about right ( we were there in March) with the radiator not on. I am not sure if it would be so in the middle of summer. It is walkable to Buckfast abbey, be it a longish, rather precarious one as mentioned above.

A perfect Hotel

The hotel was a joy to stay at. The staff are fabulous and Nicole at breakfast was so lovely. The food was really good and would recommend the Argento rose as a perfect end to the day. The bar staff would look after an open bottle for us in the fridge. The rooms were so comfortable and the bathroom was perfect and clean. I am definitely coming back on my next visit to Dartmoor. Thank you to all the staff for creating a welcoming hotel.

Ryan & Kirsty with their team gave us impressive service & excellent food during our 4 night stay. The Inn is obviously very popular because at times they were extremely busy. Special mention for Anna for giving us such friendly, efficient service at breakfast. We shall really miss her smiling face and marvellous avocado, salmon & egg dishes. The staff were lovely, very attentive and friendly. It was really busy when we arrived and had we wanted a table in the restaurant we wouldn't have got one, they did fit us in for dinner. It might be sensible to book a table at the same time as booking the room next time, but it was a very pleasant place to stay. Everything you needed was there. Most of all though, it's the staff that made it such a lovely place to stay. Thank you!

Not impressed

The walls were paper thin. The road noise was loud. There were quite a few dogs even though your overview said pets weren’t allowed. They need to improve the lighting to the overflow car park. The staff were really friendly though.
