The Summit House is 100% off-grid, generating its own solar power, well water, and septic system while still providing modern comforts.



✔ No bath or hot tub (to conserve energy)
✔ Well water with filtration (contains natural iron—bring bottled water if preferred)
✔ Starlink WiFi & Cell Service (AT&T & Verizon strongest)
✔ No TVs (unplug & reconnect with nature)

The view was spectacular! The sunrise was incredible to wake up to, and the cabin was really nice. The owners communicated quite well. The only thing I was picky about was the cleanliness of the place when we got there. There were quite a few spider webs on the doors, the mirrors had a couple of stains as well as some dishes, and the fridge. Other than that, we had an excellent stay and would definitely want to come again!

We absolutely loved this cabin. It was spotless and the views were breathtaking. It was exactly as pictured. The bed was very comfortable and kitchen was stocked with all necessities. Debbie responded quickly to my messages and was very pleasant. Would definitely stay here again and will be recommending it to all of our friends and family.

Warm thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin with our family! We absolutely loved starting the New Year here! The road up was a fun adventure in our 4WD and the cabin is so spacious, yet cozy. We lived on the back deck soaking up the beautiful view, morning coffee, and evening cocktails. We reclaimed time as days seemed longer to just unwind. 259 is great for exploring the local dining and shops. We loved the fire-pit for roasting hot dogs and nightly s’mores.  Loved family boardgames each night and reading books on the deck.  The view is so special here and stars/moon are so vibrant too.  Just wait for the sunrises and clouds!  WiFi was perfect and our Amazon Firestick worked great for YouTube TV. Andy and Debbie are wonderful hosts. The Summit House has our hearts and we cannot wait for our next visit. The Florsheim FamilySouthlake, Texas

This was amazing. Perfect views and vibes. The drive up isn’t terrible at all, just book the cabin and I promise you’ll be happy you did. The host are amazing and have clear communication before and during your trip. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. We spent majority of our time on the huge deck overlooking the lake. We had a great time and cannot wait to come back.

The summit house was an absolute dream of a vacation home. It was cut out of a slice of heaven. The views from the back porch can not even be described. The pictures do not do them justice. The drive was as described and we were not taken by surprise how long the road was off the main road, it definitely needs to be done In a suv or truck. While we were staying there this week the owner had started and basically finished a major overhaul on part of the road and made this last climb up the mountain so much easier. It was nice being able to just get away and take a slow drive and take in nature the way you are supposed to. I will say that with the house being off grid the solar batteries need charging during the night and there is a large generator that runs at random times during the night and very early morning. It can cause some sleepless moments. The house can get HOT during the day in the kitchen and living area but the master you can almost hang meat in it’s get so cold. When people say nature has healing powers it is so true being out and seeing the just shear beauty of what this part of the country holds is amazing. Will be back hopefully in one of the other properties on site very soon.

We stayed for the weekend and honestly, it was amazing. From the drive in to the cabin, with all the deer along the way, everything was just what we needed for a peaceful little getaway. The view was perfect. There was a little blue bird perched on the treetops everyday singing for hours that we loved. It stormed on our last night, and watching the thunder and lightning from the bedroom was such a cool view. We will be back!

The view! All day the view was amazing! Sunrise, sunset and I would think the night sky would be amazing too. It was raining and cloudy when we went so sadly did not get to do any star gazing. We had such a fun time hanging out in the cabin playing board games. There is a trail that you can go hiking that they gave us a map for. Those 4 miles were fun but kick some of our butts! For sure a cabin I would love to stay at again.

This vacation was nothing short of extraordinary. My husband and I sought a romantic getaway, and we found the perfect escape. The panoramic views were simply breathtaking, with rolling mountains bathed in vibrant hues that changed with the light. The exhilarating drive up the winding mountain roads added to the adventure, offering us glimpses of nature's beauty, including graceful deer grazing peacefully and majestic falcons soaring overhead. One of the highlights of our trip was the time we spent sightseeing from a jet ski. Gliding over the sparkling water, we felt the refreshing breeze against our faces as we explored the stunning coastline. The experience was exhilarating, and I can't recommend it enough!

Best Yet!!

This was our 4th stay with Bear Creek Vacation rentals. First two times at the Cliff House, then the "Phoenix Rising". These were fantastic .. but this most recent stay at The Summit was the best yet. Clean, spacious and super comfortable. Beautiful big deck to enjoy the view during the day and the stars at night. View of God’s country

This the second time we have stayed at this property and it has exceeded our expectations every time! To get to the property from the highway is 5 miles of beautiful landscape with a stream winding on both sides of the road. We saw several deer on the way to the cabin which was a joy along with all the mountains. The cabin is beautiful with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and lake! We can’t wait to visit again!

Exactly what we wanted!

We loved our visit to the Summit house with our two dogs. Gorgeous views, relaxing retreat with nature. The listing description is very accurate… you are off the grid. We loved the back deck and so did our dogs. We brought a wire gate to go across the deck steps so they could relax with us. We look forward to returning!
