"The car park was a secure gated area for hotel patrons only which I found to be a massive plus for York. As car parks in York, in my opinion, all seem to be hidden away and often some distance away from most of the accommodations as well as being quite expensive for overnight stays. The receptionists were cheerful, friendly and helpful, which after a two and a half hour drive was a very welcome sight. "The property was excellently situated just around the corner from the Minster. The rooms are well presented with everything you need and staff are very helpful. "Lovely, helpful people! The beds were so comfortable with amazing soft sheets. Breakfast was very hearty that one didnt ned lunch. It is above a pub but you couldnt hear the noise below. Karaoke night was so much fun. Very close to everything without being in the center. 10min walk to the train station. 2 min to york minister, the wall and hop on hop off buses. Highly recommend!"

"Nice friendly welcome from the gentleman working the bar on arrival Thursday 23rd October around 2pm, booked in and explained about breakfast, evening meals, on-site parking and what was happening at the pub over coming days. "The hotel was excellent. Beautiful building with historic features throughout. We loved the 'lodge-style' room in the courtyard, brilliantly quiet and well decorated. Clean and modern with great facilities including: iron and ironing board, tea/coffee tray and in-room safe. The TV was a large wide-screen. Would have wanted a second bedside table as one was missing but that's being picky! Would definitely stay again as the location a short walk from the station and Mickelgate was ideal!"
