  • A memorable stay awaits you at this beautiful mountain-side micro-resort, mini farm. The Wandering Goat Lodge located on Big Cedars Farm currently offers a 17,400 sq ft PRIVATE access lower apartment featuring stunning views, a relaxing retreat and farm adventures abound.
    BONUS- we added a saltwater pool, we are multi-pet friendly and also have FIBER Internet! :)

    Located 5 miles from Blacksburg, Virginia and 11 miles from Christiansburg Aquatic Center... Ellett Valley is a quaint, rural "Sunday-Drive" destination outside of town with generations of Farm-living, historic homesteads, stunning views and close access to the Appalachian Trail iconic hikes-- all in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

    We are near the town of Blacksburg -- but just far enough to decompress and embrace breath-taking natural beauty. Seasonally & daily we encourage you to visit and take a walk, pet the animals and immerse yourself within the property's quiet spaces. This is a predominately family-owned valley and our farm is no exception. With a deep heritage of looking out for one another, it will probably be one of the safest places you ever stay -- and definitely one of the most beautiful.

    Located along Mossy Spring Creek and overlooking Paris Mountain, The Wandering Goat Lodge at Big Cedars Farm is just 10 minutes from downtown Blacksburg & VA TECH Campus.

    The WGL space sleeps 6 people and can accommodate more upon request. Bring your dogs and we even have a pen for them outside if you like. IF you have more guests, try our RETRO camper --the ROAM Inn- as an additional booking. We are told our farm is the perfect spot to be "near town" yet embrace all of nature and the beauty of the surrounding mountains. In the summer, young and old alike will enjoy the creek and in the cooler months, you can cozy up to our amazing bonfire--which offers a perfect backdrop for some memorable family photos. Try it, we believe you will love it and want to return.

Highly recommend staying here. Warren and his wife are very welcoming and the property is in a beautiful location. It is a very clean and comfortable accommodation and it's great to be able to interact with the resident animals!

Very close to Virginia Tech and local spots. Host was very quick to respond and accommodate. The goats were a very sweet addition to a really nice relaxing spot. The pool was so nice. We loved all the little goat and VT touches.

We had a very relaxing stay at Wandering Goat Lodge. It's a spacious place with a nice view of the mountain and the farm. The animals are enjoyable, and, in case anyone wonders, they don't make much noise at all, though it it fun to hear the little goats when outside. The hosts were great, and the place was well stocked with kitchen utensils etc. Very enjoyable overall.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! They were so welcoming to us and our 2 dogs. Super comfortable and spacious apartment, great location, lots of area to explore and lots of friendly farm animals to interact with. We had a great time and look forward to visiting again.

The host was extremely welcoming and very gracious. They went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. Interacting with all the animals was the highlight of our trip. The amenities were top-notch and the bed was the most comfortable ever. My wife loved the stream that ran through the property and holding the baby goats.

My family and I stayed while visiting the area for the holiday. The owners were super communicative about some upcoming work they had going on at the property, offering to adjust the schedule if it would interfere with our holiday (it didn't). We really enjoyed getting to go out and feed the goats!

Great property! The place was huge. Had a great kitchen, the bedrooms were spacious, and so was the living area. Many outside spaces to hang out and explore. A pool is in the works and should be finished soon. The highlight was being able to feed and pet the animals. The donkeys and goats were really sweet. Baby goats had just been born before we arrived. The owners were very lovely and helpful. Would love to stay again when visiting my son at VA Tech.

We had a great time. The property was exactly what we expected. The host was very friendly and responsive. We loved the bon fire pit and feeding the animals. I especially enjoyed coffee on the patio each morning, the view and quiet were just what I needed.

Perfect mountain getaway

The perfect mountain getaway! Conveniently located near town, yet offers a peaceful escape. The donkeys and goats were a real highlight. Amazing views! The space was cozy, well-appointed, and made us feel right at home.

Great Place

We loved this place!! The goats and donkeys were so great to see and feed each day. We also enjoyed walking to the stream that runs through the property. We will definitely stay here again when visiting our Tech student!
