Couples Retreat with Hot Tub, Lake & Mountain Views in Big Canoe Luxury Resort

"The Nest" is the perfect couples mountain retreat. We are located in the upscale gated community of Big Canoe, which is an hour north of Atlanta. "The Nest" is perfectly perched in the upper Treetopper section which overlooks Lake Petit and features year round lake and mountain views, all while remaining extremely close to the Heart of Big Canoe amenities.

Completely remodeled with open-beams, wood ceilings and floors, along with floor to ceiling windows this cottage immerses you into nature among the trees. Fully equipped modern kitchen including everything to prepare meals. Complimentary coffee/creamer/sugar. King size bed with plush mattress and layered bedding for your comfort. Cabin is equipped with propane gas logs (October - March) a Smart flatscreen TV and high-speed internet (cable is not available). Outdoors enjoy nature while on the decks which include a bistro table for outdoor dining, propane grill, two lounge chairs and a hot tub!

Resort style amenities at Big Canoe include three 9-hole championship golf courses, eight outdoor & two indoor tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool and two seasonal outdoor pools ( Memorial Day - July 31st then weekends only through Labor Day), three stocked lakes, Big Canoe Marina offers rental pontoon boats, john-boats, kayaks and canoes. Also, there are miles of hiking trails, a beach, rock slide and jeep trail. The Clubhouse at Lake Sconti offers fine dining with lunch and dinner menu's, a fully stocked bar, take-out menu, Sunday Brunch and weekend entertainment. Please note additional fees for amenities apply and can be paid onsite.

Big Canoe is an official Wildlife Sanctuary and as such each guest needs to respect local wildlife. Big Canoe is home to several species of birds including the bald eagle, quail and wild turkey. You'll also see black bear, deer, rabbits and squirrels. Guest should never leave food items or trash outdoors. If needed there are dumpsters close to the North Gate.

Off-site there is plenty to do in the North Georgia Mountains. Gibbs Gardens, Amicalola Falls, and the Tate House are all about a 15 minute drive. The North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawsonville with 140 stores is a short 30 minute drive. "The Nest" is also convenient to Ellijay with apple festivals, wineries, and local antiques.

Optional Early Check-In / Late Check-Out
We offer early check-in at 1:00 PM and late check-out at 1:00 PM for an additional fee of $50 each. These options are available upon request and subject to availability, based on our cleaning schedule. Please contact us in advance to arrange either option.

If approved, we will send a secure payment request through Vrbo. Once you accept and complete the payment, the early check-in or late check-out will be confirmed.


Travel insurance is highly recommended. We unfortunately cannot make exceptions to our cancelation policy. Thank you for understanding.

The scenic views and private, modern luxury cabin were exceptional. Living in the Pacific Northwest, I’m no stranger to spectacular skies, but nothing compares to the brilliance of the stars on our first night there, unbelievably bright, impossibly beautiful, and absolutely breathtaking. Every detail came together to create the perfect couples getaway.

Awesome view from every window and the porch of the lake and mountains. Very clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Our only downside was that we only had 1 night! Communication was fast and clear. The kitchen had everything we needed and wasn't lacking anything despite it being a small footprint.

From the moment I walked in… I loved the place! Clean, Cozy and so inviting! Perfect for a couples get a way/anniversary or whatever the occasion. We had such a great time… The view is spectacular & the grounds @ Big Canoe are impeccable! I fell in love with ‘THE NEST’ and we’re already planning a next stay! Dialogue with the host was exceptional! So much to do there. Their trail hikes are a must! Fading Goat Vineyard was also outstanding!

With the exception of the weather, our stay was wonderful. The accommodations are great, the fireplace added a very cozy touch, and the bed and bedding was amazing. I cannot say enough good about this place and the hosts were very accommodating. I am sure that we will be back in the future.

This property was amazing! My wife and I celebrated or 20 year anniversary. We loved the seclusion. Everything about this unit was great. It was clean, well stocked with essentials you need, and a few pleasantries! Tracey was great, and easy to work with. This was a total surprise get away for my wife, so it was helpful to have an early arrival option so I could get into the unit prior to me bringing my wife up so I could set up everything just the way I wanted to. We are definitley coming back because it is a great get away to decomoress for a few days. Hopefully, we will play some golf next time. We also enjoyed an anniversary dinner at the clubhouse which was also very good! We highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to just get away and have some great one on one time!

We loved our time at this little nest. Everything we needed was supplied. The only drawback was most surfaces had decorative objects on them so there was not much space for guests to put books etc. The deck furniture was perfect and we enjoyed coffee there every morning.

We loved our stay at The Nest! Beautiful views, accommodations were perfect inside, and we had our anniversary dinner at the clubhouse and the food was delicious! Golf was awesome as well, a little challenging for sure but great. Hosts were very accommodating to my wants and we got early check in as well when most places arent offering that much anymore. Found a cute old cabin on our walk to the lower amd upper falls and just really enjoyed the rest!

Excellent! Loved the golf courses at Big Canoe, the hot tub, and views from the deck especially enjoying sunrise with a cup of coffee. Thanks for all the amenities like extra towels, usb and usbc charging, and coffee kcups. We would've loved more sports channels as it was start of football season. Undoubtedly a spectactular stay!

Couples Therapy

Big Canoe in itself an overall top experience. Safe, peaceful and secure. Driving to "The Nest" scenic and nature laced. When we arrived to the location the surrounding area and view awaiting beat expectations. The cabin made for two was clean, had all that one needed, and the floor to glass windows allowed the view to be experienced from kitchen to bedroom. Though all above 5 star, the real star of this property was the outdoor decks. There is an upper and lower deck and both provided a view of the lake below in the valley with too many trees that filled the hills. The upper deck perfect to have dinner and an adult beverage and lower deck having a hot tub a great way to end the day or rather maybe inspire the night. Have stayed in many of these type of rentals and have enjoyed most but The Nest is one of the best, made for two and the only question is: Why not you? BTW: apologize for the appearance that Im writing an add but when I'm delivered more than expected I get carried away a bit. See photos and you will understand better my review. Enjoy

Lovely stay in every way. Accommodations were comfortable and clean, and careful attention given to ensuring our needs were met. As a bonus, the telescope allowed us to spot a resident bald eagle on the island in the middle of the lake … a real treat!

The owners of this property give attention to every detail!! The bed and pillows are fabulous…we slept like a king and a queen!! the location is perfect. The view is heavenly, and plenty of fun, exciting adventures close by. We really enjoyed our vacation like a five star hotel.

Breathtaking glass pedestal studio home with mountain and lake views

The nest and the views are absolutely beautiful. It has Most everything you could need and then some. Hot tub and bbq on dual level decks furnished with hightop table chairs and lounge chairs. Inside is very comfortable king bed,heated bidet toilet,complete kichen with oven dishwasher,microwave, Kuerig coffee incuding pods. BIg canoe has great hiking, a beach, pool, paddle canoes and more.

Great View

Nicely appointed, great view, comfortable bed, mostly quite and peaceful and a real feeling of being in the woods (treetops). The deck furniture was also comfortable once we cleared out the siders. While we didn't try to use the hot tub until our last night there, I would have been disappointed had I known the condition of it. Very dirty and a great number of jet nozzles were missing and when turned on it didn't appear to be working properly. To be fair, we did not report this condition since storms moved in and we still had to pack to leave the next morning. Hopefully the owners will make the necessary repairs and this will be 5 Stars in all of the categories.
