I wouldn’t really say I’m a fussy person, I can put up with a lot and I’m quite resilient but my ‘stay’ at The Jersey Arms hotel was a very good way to force some impromptu character development and really make me contemplate a lot of my life choices. Being honest the receptionist was a sweetheart and did the best that they could, but the hotel was a different story entirely. From the moment I walked into my room the very strong potent smell of damp and mould hit me like a wall, before realising that there was thick, fuzzy mould growing in the bottom of the wardrobe, this was also accompanied by paint falling off the walls and dirty sheets. I can confidently say a hotel has never made me cry before but this one most certainly did. The receptionist was kind enough to move my room, which was of equal poor form as the first one. The same horrible damp/mould smell, dirty sheets and plaster and all sorts hanging off the wall. Whilst I was issued a full refund by the hotel an Expedia very promptly as I type this review I just want to preface, this review is in by no way a petty complaint. I would just like to warn others to think twice about booking this hotel, as the cheap price point does in no way justify the condition nor experience of this hotel.

Decent value for money. Room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Staff were friendly on arrival but it is worth noting that reception isn't always staffed so it can be a bit hit and miss trying to call the hotel. The following could be improved: redecorating as the paper is peeling off the walls and ceiling in bedroom 2, upgrade the continental breakfast with some meats and cheeses. It is worth noting that if you want to eat out or go for a drink you will need to drive or get a taxi as there is very little/nothing in the village. This is an old building with plenty of charm but walls are thin and floorboards creak.

The coldest hotel stay of my life! The radiators were barely warm and we were told they were on a timer and it would warm up. Went out for 2 hours for some food and to play pool and we got back to stone cold radiators and a portable heater in the middle of the room. I have never been so cold, it was warmer outside than inside! Sleeping when your cold is awful so we woke up still tired and still cold frozen.

Probably the worst nights stay since I was a backpacker, room was in a cottage style annex, on entering the room we could see our breath it was that cold. Because the heat hadn’t been on for a while the air was cold and damp. Turned on radiator in both bedroom and bathroom but none worked, quilt was not warm enough and no additional blankets available, ended up having to sleep in our coats!! One bath towel for two people, no hand towels. Bar and restaurant closed as it’s apparently just a hotel now. Will not be returning.

Cold and damp room. Main radiators were stone cold. There was one very low powered convection heater and an argument over even getting a second heater. Cold in bed all night. Proper customer service was non-existent.

I dont often leave bad reviews but the pictures on the site are not current. The site says £15 per dog reception want £20, says a hair dryer none in the room. The room was freezing with the radiator on full blast. The windows were rotten and didnt shut properly. Avoid

The hotel has had better days, the pictures show were in it's prime. The bedroom I was given was in need of modernising, the bed was very uncomfortable and clearly worn down, the bed linen was not fully clean with stain marks on the pillow cases and fitted sheet. The bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned, the tub filled with water during a shower and didn't drain fast. I wouldn't be staying here again or recommending this hotel.
