Unfortunately we were unaware that works were going on outside the hotel, and had been for the last year. Paving renewals were coming towards the end when we got there but nevertheless there were large areas where blocks were missing and manholes had to be levelled. Noise was ongoing from about 8am due to blocks having to be cut to fill gaps. Obviously the hotel was not at fault as these works had to be completed, but I felt we should have been advised that these works were being done at the booking stage.
We booked a table for 6 people one night, and invited 4 friends (also on there holidays, but staying elsewhere) to join us.
2 of the starters ordered were incorrectly sent from the kitchen, and the two recipients had to wait a further 10-15 minutes for their correct order. We then received the main meals, and sadly 4 out of the 6 were not very nice at all. They were both 2 for sharing Paella's which were well overcooked with the rice being almost dry. We presumed that was as a result of the starters being incorrect, and the time taken in cooking new starters.
All in all not a very spectacular experience.
Fortunately my wife and I had stayed at the La Fonda Hotel 2 times in previous years and new that the Hotel were much better than this, and not withstanding not informing us of the works being carried out around the Hotel we will give them a further chance to get back up to standard.
