Boondocks Cabin

The Boondocks Cabin is attractively finished, tucked up in the woods, and pet friendly. The cabin has two bedrooms, each complete with a Sealy Posturepedic queen-size bed with Eurotop for your sleeping comfort, a very nice bathroom, and a completely furnished kitchen. The kitchen has tea bags, sweeteners, and regular and de-cafe coffee. The kitchen and each bedroom have an LED TV that receives local stations. The queen-size futon offers an additional sleeping option. There is an infrared sauna on the enclosed back deck and a hot tub.
One of my cabin renters watched an eagle scoop a fish out of my wetlands pond. It then flew to a tree on the island in the pond and ate the fish. We certainly have an incredible number of wildlife visitors here.

We had the best weekend at Jack’s cabin and beautiful property. The cabin was perfect for Tunnel Hill. Jack is so friendly and fun to talk to while we stayed there. His winery and grounds are so beautiful. We feel so fortunate to have found such a great spot.

Jack is the sweetest! Upon arrival we got to hear some wonderful stories and taste some wine. The cabin was secluded, and the hot tub and sauna were great way to end a day of hiking. The front porch was the perfect spot to watch the sunset and star gaze. It's not fancy, but it doesn't need to be. It's a great spot to get away from it all and relax.

The cabin was great. It had everything we needed for a long weekend stay. The property is beautiful. We loved watching the wildlife from the front porch. We will definitely rent again when we come back to southern Illinois!

Peaceful Getaway

Mr. Jack has always been very accommodating gentleman the times we have stayed at his place. It is always enjoyable to have a visit with him at the winery and listening to the many interesting stories he shares. We always look forward to returning. We will always be thankful for his hospitality!

Perfect for Tunnel Hill 100/50 Race!

The location is so beautiful and right next to the Heron Pond aide station! Jack was so kind and welcoming. The hot tub and sauna were a huge bonus and much needed for my sore legs after the race. I loved reading all of the stories from other people’s stay at the cabin—quite a few repeat visitors! My husband loved the screened in porch with the beautiful view. He spent quite a bit of time reading there while I was recovering before our journey home. We’ll definitely be back again next year!

Cabin In The Woods

My family and I had a great long weekend enjoying this property. Very clean, everything properly working and just a great stay. Enjoyed the hot tub and sauna every evening after hiking in the Shawnee Forest. The property manager was very kind and always great at communicating any questions or concerns. Beautiful scenery and wildlife in the area. Great location for the Shawnee Forest and wineries.

This was a good place to stay for us. Were in town for the annual ASA archery event at Mermet Lake. The cabin was in a good location with lots of privacy. The host was friendly and helpful.

Serenity in the woods

Check in process was easy and Jack was a great host. The property is secluded and beautiful. There is not just one screened in porch, but 2! The sauna on the back porch was a nice feature to help warm us up after we got out of the hot tub. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of items to help us cook our meals. We didn’t get to use the grill but there is one there. The Cooperhead wine that Jack gave us was outstanding. We can’t wait to go back and visit
