Quiet, bright upscale holiday cottage in the center of Bayeux, with garden

In the very center of Bayeux, this bright and very quiet cottage is a real haven of peace. With an area of 100 m2, it can accommodate 4 people who can meet on the terrace and enjoy the many activities offered by the city of Bayeux. Children are welcome and can enjoy the garden while staying in front of parents.

You will also find outside in addition to the terrace a barbecue and a garden to enliven your evenings. The interior will also meet all your expectations, you can find:
- 2 bedrooms, one with 1 large double bed and the other with 2 single beds
- 1 fully equipped American kitchen
- 1 bathroom with shower and separate toilet

The appliances are provided (washing machine, dryer). A large flat screen TV and wifi internet access are also available. Near the means of transport of the city, you will be able to reach easily the different tourist or cultural sites.

Great place. Very comfortable and centrally located. Very quiet area, but only a few blocks away from restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and tourist information center. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and is beautiful.

Damien, the owner & host, is a very nice person. However, his interaction with guests needs some work. He needs to introduce himself when you first knock on the door & meet him. It would be nice if he provided a brief walk-through of the home. It would be nice if he provided information on area restaurants and sites. It would be nice if he provided directions on how to operate the washing machine & dryer. (All the on-machine information is in abbreviated French.) The water to the washer had been turned off and accidentally left off. We discovered this after doing a load and realizing the clothes were dry. It would be nice to have shampoo and/or bath gel. It would be nice to have paper towels.The accommodations are very nice, with a few slight improvements, it would be a 10 out of 10.

Excellent property. Only a block from downtown Bayeux, near all shops and restaurants. Drivable to Omaha and Utah beaches and DDay locations. Property comfortably sleeps 4. Nice kitchen and living space. The outside gate is a bit difficult to lock/unlock. Nice garden area, which we did not use due to weather. Damien was very helpful and responsive. Highly recommend this property.

The property itself is quite nice and comfortable, and in an excellent location less than 10 minutes walk into central Bayeux. Parking is nearby, but parking is a problem in Bayeux so if you go out for the day then there is no guarantee that the space will be there when you get back - that obviously is not a problem with the property as they can’t control public parking. We visited in August which is a very busy time so it might not be as bad at other times. However there is a big problem in that the property is not secure. The entrance door is a sliding patio door, the lock obviously broke some time ago so they’ve put a padlock on it but the door can be opened a few centimetres so it would be easy to break in. At night you have to go outside to lock it and be let in by another door that only locks from the inside. This made me worry that the property would be broken into at night or while we were out. The owner simply needs to have the door lock replaced!

Great place to explore Normandy from

Well located for walking Bayeux, and driving to Normandy’s many highlights. Great space for a family. Washer and dryer were a plus. Had a lovely time there.

Great location, missing details

This is a great location, easy to walk anywhere in town, beautiful view of the cathedral. Beds were comfortable, we appreciated access to laundry machines, but the dryer doesn’t dry well, like most you’ll find in Europe anyway. Families with young kids will find games and books, etc.Be aware this property is colocated with the owner’s residence, with a separate entrance and space for you, which isn’t clear in the listing. There is a padlock to lock your door when you leave, but there’s not an easy way to lock yourself in at night- count on the door that locks the courtyard, which seems very quiet and safe. It’s possible to lock your apartment door from the outside and go around to another door to get back in. Damian was very nice; we would have appreciated more info before arrival, with details about how to check in, parking, and local recommendations like other VRBO hosts we’ve known. For example, we didn’t have coffee in the apartment, and it would have been great to know what might be recommended nearby - the only ones we found didn’t open until 10.

Not a Great Experience

As per my 24 minute recorded conversation with the VRBO rep, the proprietor was only interested in a 100% profit margin on the rental. There are many considerations …..safety being the 1 and then it goes downhill from there. The outside gate to the rental had a padlock but no installed light or even a street light. It was pretty tricky to navigate in the dark without a phone light. The owner mentioned there was no way to lock the interior door but that was OK as he was on premises. (Not a ringing endorsement for our safely.) No bath soap or gel or washcloths. Towels were almost rags.Toilet brush but no cleaning aids. No one was present during out stay. He was definitely elsewhere.

Cute cottage - close to restaurants and shopping

The location is perfect- walk to most areas of Bayeux with ease. Well kept and nicely furnished! The bottle of cider was unexpected and much appreciated! Some challenges with initially finding the location- our host responded and let us in. The washer and dryer were absolutely beneficial!

Valhalla Cottage

We were very comfortable staying here. It was clean and very convenient to the center of lovely Bayeux. Parking was very convenient as well. The photos on the site are a little dated. The inside is the same, very nice, with the exception of the couch, but the outdoor furniture hadn’t been painted recently (not a problem for us on a cool and rainy weekend in April). We really enjoyed staying there.

A modern, comfortable cottage in a perfect location!

We absolutely loved staying in this charming cottage steps from city center Bayeux. Damian (our host) was very helpful and attentive. Bayeux was the perfect place to stay to see the Normandy beaches (which we did), but we also loved walking around the charming town of Bayeux. It was an all-around wonderful stay. Thank you!
