In our 2 wonderful week's time in Norway, this was by far the worst stay experience. We booked for 3 guests, specifically for the washer/dryer amenity as we knew we'd need to do a load of laundry for the remainder of our trip, and the place and location looked nice.
Expedia's description states that an email would be sent 24 hours prior to self check-in. The apartments messaged right after booking, stating they would send an email with check-in instructions within 1 hour prior to check-in. We did NOT receive any email within the hour prior to check-in, nor at any time, with check-in instructions. We stood on the street corner, after the stated check-in time, messaging the hotel - which we received no response, then contacting Expedia for support. Since it took some time, we walked to a nearby cafe with all our luggage . Expedia was able to reach the apartments, and they said they had text us the access code to the apartments, but I NEVER received any text from them. I don't understand why they didn't email the instructions as they said they would. Very, very frustrating. We finally received a message from the hotel via Expedia with access code about 45 minutes after check-in time.
We dropped off our bags in a hurry so we could explore Alesund, returning late in the evening. By then we realized there was no laundry soap, no directions on how to use the washer/dryer combo, no extra blanket, pillow, and towel for my child. Completely ruined our Alesund experience.
