Just 2 hours from the GWB, Woods Retreat is located in the heart of Ulster County, and the foothills of the Catskill mountains in the High Falls/Stone Ridge area. Close to New Paltz, Kingston, Woodstock, Mohonk Mountain, and the Ashokan reservoir, the Woods Retreat is right across the river from Rhinebeck, Hyde Park, and Poughkeepsie.

This unique house with beautiful views of the Catskills was built and designed as a peaceful get-away with modern comforts, using local wood & stone and an open floor plan. It's quiet and secluded while being a short distance [5 miles] from a major road. The area is known for its abundance of great restaurants, art galleries, antiquing, and hiking as well as rock climbing in the Shawangunks and many historic sites. The Belleayre and Hunter Mountain ski region is within an hour's drive.

Whether you're looking for a quiet, secluded weekend away, or a private & special base from which to venture forth, the Woods Retreat is an experience not to be missed!

The Woods Retreat: Take a break from your hectic work-week and escape to New York's scenic Hudson Valley. At the Woods Retreat you'll find a secluded get-away, far from the hectic demands of your work day. Nestled at the top of a forested ridge you'll have views of the Catskill Mountains surrounding the Shokan reservoir to the north-west. You'll find a peaceful, quiet retreat with all of your needs within reach.

The Hudson Valley: Only 2 hours from Manhattan, Accord, Stone Ridge, Rosendale & High Falls are popular weekend go-to places for many urban dwellers. There's an excellent selection of restaurants within a 6 mile radius, as well as sophisticated shops and lots of galleries and antique stores. Woodstock, Kingston, [one of the top ten best cities in the country to buy real estate, as reported on NBC's Today Show], are nearby. New Paltz and Gardiner are just over the ridge and Rhinebeck & Hyde Park are directly across the Hudson River. Ulster County has hiking, mountains, skiing, historical sights, rivers, lakes and streams, and more artists per capita than any other New York county.

Lovely weekend

Wonderful, relaxing house in a lovely spot. As advertised, it's quite remote, but perfect for a laid-back trip with family or friends. Donna was great: very helpful, easy to communicate with and, importantly, stocked the place with some really delicious coffee. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent stay at the Woods

We highly recommend staying at the Woods retreat. Donna is a wonderful host. Property is clean and very comfortable. House is quietly nestled in the woods, surrounded by beautiful forest and old stone walls. We enjoyed grilling and sitting by the fire pit.

Great getaway

This house was obviously built as a labor of love. It felt like a privilege to stay there. Beautiful and unique construction, very nicely done. The property itself is quiet and secluded, with great landscaping and some thoughtful additions like a screened-in gazebo. The owners were responsive and had everything wonderfully set up for us.

Beautiful, relaxing retreat!

The house is beautiful, rustic and very uniquely but beautifully designed and decorated. We loved everything about it. We came for a few days to relax after our wedding in the area and it couldn't have been better for it. It's clear they take wonderful care of this home!!

As good as advertised! Highly recommend.

Stayed July 1-July 4, 2016 My wife and I felt right at home as soon as we stepped into the house. Importantly, the home feels secluded as you make your way down the private drive and then up to the property. Home is nicely equipped with everything you'll need in the kitchen, bath, and bedroom. Donna and Dan obviously put a lot of thought into that. The only miss for us was furniture in the living room, in front of the TV. Though we didn't watch much, it would have been nice to have a decent sofa to sit on while watching the morning news. But possibly that only compelled us to head outdoors sooner, away from the droning telly and into the beautiful nature that surrounds the home. Also, Donna made it clear that she was there should we need anything during our stay. But we didn't, and she let us be – perfection. Thanks again Donna and Dan! We'll be back, highly recommend!

Tranquility at its finest

My husband and I frequently take trips upstate to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The Woods Retreat was perfect! The home was secluded with lots of privacy and trees for miles which is exactly what we were looking for. The layout of the house was well thought out. My favorite was the stone-wall leading to the stairwell. The charming loft is wrapped with tall windows - the scenery was lovely to wake up to. There were candles strategically placed everywhere - just a perfect romantic setting. We spent the days exploring the grounds and night cuddling by the wood-stove. Can't wait to visit again!
