"We have stayed at the colony I at sea mountain in pahala twice. We absolutely love this place, the people are veey nice and make you feel at home. I love the privacy and how quite it is. Its also a 5 minute walk to the beach where you can see the green sea trutles."

We were volcano watching and did not want to have to drive back to Kona, so we spotted this place at a very reasonable price, booked it and saved ourselves the 2 hour schlep. It was clean, quiet (well except for the coqui frogs - but just had to close the window) , cozy and had a supremely comfortable bed. Best of all, it was 8 minutes from the park. "This entire experience was nothing short of amazing. At first I was apprehensive to live completely off the grid but after staying here I would definitely do it again. When we first arrived the host met us, gave us an entire tour of his property, including his beautiful animals as well as explaining what it’s like to live off grid. Made us feel right at home as if we had been friends a long time. The home was cozy, it does get a little cold so be prepared. The grill and fire pit was a nice touch...
