The Space:

Stargaze Escape is a retro desert home in Yucca Valley with a floating vintage car bed for stargazing, neon signs, a vintage phone booth and a cactus garden. The fully fenced yard has a private hot tub, a cowboy tub with a retro sign and a fire pit with boulder seats. Inside, the fun continues with a curved pink sofa, a sputnik chandelier, a coral tile backsplash and a shelf of vintage cans, and an indoor tub opens to a private star-lit courtyard. With two king bedrooms and one bathroom, it suits couples or a small group of up to four.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The fully fenced yard is full of character. Wander the stepping stones through the cactus garden, past tall columnar cactus, barrel cactus and big desert boulders, and pick up the receiver in the vintage phone booth to leave a message and add to the home's story. In the afternoon, take a hanging chair on the shaded patio, or cool off in the cowboy tub beneath its tall retro sign; the cowboy tub is not an in-ground pool and is closed November through March. A BBQ grill is ready for dinner.



At dusk, the neon comes on and the phone booth glows. Gather around the round fire bowl on its boulder seats, framed by a white breeze-block wall, then slip into the private hot tub among the cacti. When the sky is fully dark, climb into the turquoise vintage car bed, open the top, settle in and pick a constellation.



-Living Area-

Sink into the curved pink sofa beneath bold framed art, with a stone accent wall, a round coffee table and plenty of plants. A smart TV, Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace keep things comfortable, and a retro radio and a framed vintage diorama add a little more nostalgia. Mini-split heating and air conditioning handle the desert temperatures.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The kitchen has a coral tile backsplash, a gas range, a stainless fridge and a corner window over the sink that looks out to the yard, plus cooking basics, dishes and silverware. The custom boulder table is the centerpiece of the dining area, with orange chairs, a sputnik light overhead and a wall of vintage cans nearby. Sliding doors open straight to the patio.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Stargaze Escape has two bedrooms, each with a king bed. One has sliders to the yard and vintage prints, the other a bench at the foot of the bed, a desert painting and a mint-green dresser. The bathroom has a double vanity beneath a retro portrait, a walk-in shower and a soaking tub with a glass door to the private courtyard, where a star-patterned screen glows at night. Run a bath after dark and leave the curtains open.



-Surrounding Area-

La Copine and the Integratron are the easy outings from Stargaze Escape, with downtown Joshua Tree, Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown and the Walmart in Yucca Valley for everything else.



Guest Access:

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.

Stargaze Escape is in Yucca Valley near Flamingo Heights, a couple of minutes from La Copine, with cell phone coverage.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Tub-

The pool at Stargaze Escape is a cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.



-Hot Tub Rules-

Please rinse off before and after using the hot tub, and keep the lid on to keep out dirt and hold the heat. No glass by any water.



-Visitors and Private Chefs-

If a private chef will be visiting, please let us know in advance. Visitors are welcome during the day but cannot stay overnight unless they are added to the reservation as registered guests.



-House-Specific Rules-

► Please keep music at a reasonable volume and turn it off by the start of quiet hours.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

We have hot tub and cowboy tub cleanings twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and these days may fall during your stay.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

For your security, there are exterior cameras on the property, which monitor vehicles and occupancy. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private areas, including the hot tub area.



-Cell Service-

Cell phone coverage is available at the property, though reception can vary by carrier.



-Damage Waiver Policy-

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver.
