    Once a working farm and livery, Brecks Farm has been lovingly transformed by owners Guy and Tracey into a charming collection of five beautifully appointed holiday cottages. Combining rural character with modern comfort, every detail has been carefully considered to ensure a relaxing and memorable stay.
    Drawing on his background as a skilled joiner, Guy has handcrafted many of the property's unique features, including the stunning bespoke headboards found in the master bedrooms. These thoughtful touches can be seen throughout the cottages, adding warmth, character, and a true sense of craftsmanship to each home.

    The Cow Kennels
    The Cow Kennels is a spacious and stylish single-storey cottage, perfect for families, couples, or groups of friends looking to explore the historic City of York and the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Accommodating up to six guests with the addition of a sofa bed in the lounge, this welcoming property offers everything needed for a comfortable getaway.
    At the heart of the cottage is a generous open-plan living area, providing the perfect space to relax after a day of sightseeing. The well-equipped kitchen includes everything you'll need to prepare anything from hearty breakfasts to special holiday meals.
    The property features two luxurious bedrooms, both of which can be configured as either twin beds or exceptionally comfortable super king-size beds, offering flexibility for a variety of group arrangements. There are also two modern bathrooms: one with a walk-in shower and the other with a bath and shower over.
    Step outside and enjoy your own private outdoor space, complete with comfortable seating, a dining table and chairs, and a charcoal barbecue- ideal for al fresco dining on warm Yorkshire evenings.

    Electric Vehicle Charging
    Each of the five cottages is equipped with its own electric vehicle charging point. The charging points provide a dedicated 16A supply and can be accessed using a standard UK 13A three-pin plug.
    Guests are welcome to charge their vehicles during their stay. We kindly ask that a contribution towards the electricity used is left in the cottage upon departure.

    Dog-Friendly Stays
    Well behaved dogs are welcome at a charge of £20 per dog, per stay. We kindly ask that dogs are not left unattended in the property at any time.

Excellent accommodation and location.

We stayed at Cow Kennels for a long weekend. The accommodation was excellent, as was the location. Great place for the dog, with plenty of options to walk locally. Very close to and easy to access York. Guy and Tracey were fabulous hosts; their personal touch made such a difference.

A very luxurious, clean, well equipped holiday cottage . We particularly like the open fire. We have stayed in many holiday cottages across the uk and this is one of the best.

Perfect stay

Beautiful, clean, modern accommodation nestled in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Easy drive into York city centre. Fully furnished to a very high standard. Lots of space with excellent beds and showers. Tracey and Guy are very welcoming and accommodating.

Xmas stay

We had an amazing stay at Brecks Farm in The Cow Kennel, whilst visiting York for the Xmas market. The accommodation was spotless and warm, the beds comfortable and the kitchen well kitted out. There was even a Xmas tree set up. The drive into York was 10 mins and we found no issue with parking however if you prefer the park and ride is only a short drive away.

Excellent accommodation - but you need a car

We have stayed at Brecks Farm before, and found the accommodation just as comfortable and well-equipped as previously. It is a lovely quiet place just outside the outer ring road, so convenient for travelling to other places around York and Yorkshire and no parking problems. However, to get to York city, you need to drive in (15 mins plus usual traffic jam), or drive to Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride (5-10 min drive) and get the free bus. There is a bus outside the farm but it's not very frequent. It is about 5 minutes drive to Clifton Moor retail park where you will find a huge Tesco for all your catering requirements, plus restaurants, home retail chains, bowling alley, cinema. The hosts appear to have thought of everything you might need in equipping the cottages and each one has a delightful garden patio area with barbecue and outdoor furniture. They are set within a lovely rural area overlooking a pond and fields. A beautiful retreat from the hustle and bustle of York city centre. The farm is served by York taxi firms and takeaway/delivery restaurants.

We had a fantastic short break staying at Brecks Farm. The accommodation was exceptional and beautifully finished. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay with owners who were friendly and responsive. We will certainly be returning soon.

Return visit

The cottage provides quality accommodation with furnishings and fittings to a high standard. The rooms are spacious and immaculately presented with the hosts providing everything you might possibly need. The outdoor lawn and patio areas are generous in size with views over the duck pond and access to a lovely walk around the large wildflower meadow. Well placed for visits to York and the surrounding areas, welcoming and friendly hosts, this is the best of the many places we have stayed in over the years.

Ideallic!

We stayed for 4 days with my elderly mum and were really impressed. The property is very well located to explore Yorkshire and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The bungalow was clean, well-equipped and had a lovely outdoor seating area, it was a real home from home. Guy and his family were friendly and helpful, without being intrusive, and it was lovely to see the owls feeding at dusk.

Perfect cottage for a family holiday

What a fantastic cottage! Beautifully decorated with the best kitchen supplies I've ever known in self-catering accommodation. Shame there's no pavement to the bus stop (or the lovely cafe next door), but that didn't stop us exploring. I'm looking forward to the new washing machine "cupboard" soon too. Thanks for everything Guy and Tracey.

A little gem.

Great location, very peaceful. The cow kennels is done to a very high standard, well maintained. Guy and family are very friendly, will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. We will definitely be returning.
