**34 Coney Street - a brand new holiday let development of the highest quality right in the city centre**
Coney Street, York's premier shopping street was home to some colourful characters down the ages. In 1150, the main street in York, was called Cuningstrete, the King's Street. It ran from Ousegate right to the Museum Gardens. By the 18th century it was the site of the seat of government in the city, with the Guildhall and the Mansion House in pride of place. But it was in the 19th century that it became a shopping centre par excellence, with high class fashion establishments, costumiers, furriers, milliners, linen drapers, pianoforte warehouse, bookshops and jewellers, as well as the home of York's first department store, Leak and Thorp which opened in 1869.
The Silk Mercers
Situated on the second floor this one bedroom apartment to the rear of the building has been beautifully designed with colour and organic shapes in mind to represent its namesake The Silk Mercer. Using bright brass finishes the designers have created something special for your stay in York. The open plan living dining area creates a great area for you to relax and unwind together. There is a sofa to curl up in front of the TV, pus a kitchen/dining area to enjoy your meal together, chat over a cup of coffee or pre dinner drinks before stepping out into the night life that York offers you, right on your doorstep.
Moving on into the luxurious bedroom with a large comfortable bed in which to rest after a fun filled day and a luxury en-suite shower room. The ensuite has a large walk in shower and underfloor heating - perfect for your preparations for your fun filled time ahead. Whether you have come to York for the races, to take in the grandeur of York Minster, a weekend of entertainment at the theatres or just here to relax and unwind, this centrally located 1 bedroom apartment is the perfect starting point.

Great place for a lovely night away
Site was easy to locate and access. Room was very inviting and comfortable. Amenities were well stocked and easy to use. Great stay all round.

The venue was really well situated in the centre of the city - we parked our car & didn't have to use it during our stay. The room was spacious and had a separate lounge/kitchen are, which was great & gave additional space The room is also nicely decorated with vibrant colours & crazy wallpaper, which was half the appeal. The room was clean on arrival, however, it would have been nice if someone could have come in to change the floor towel (which was soaked through, given that there's no lip on the shower floor & water flows around freely on the bathroom floor) and empty the bins. Towel hooks in the bathroom would also have been welcome (it's a really cheap, easy solution to an annoyance so not sure why it hasn't already been done). A sponge (or something similar) to was the dishes would have been helpful (we found the dish washing liquid & drying cloth but no sponge). And last but not least, I know times are hard & we're all trying to save a buck here & there, but to scrimp on the toilet paper available is just cheap (we bought additional supply ourselves), especially given the daily rate of the rooms.
We had a small issue with the espresso machine, and hats off to the girls in the office, it was sorted out promptly & without fuss.
