    Things to do and places to go: There is a less than 5 minute walk to beach and downtown area. You do not have to drive. This house features tons of parking, large backyard,wrap around farmers porch, and back yard patio. This is the perfect place for a get away. Once downtown there are lots of shops to choose from. You have the option to go bowling, play arcade games, retail shops, and all different types of restaurants to choose from. Also there is an amusement park with rides and a zoo, which is fun for the whole family.

    Check in is 3pm. Check out is before 10am. No exceptions.

    Weekly rentals are from SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. When available, additional nightly rates can be added to your weekly rental. Typical rates are $550 per night/3 night minimum. This is only in the off season.
    A refundable security deposit of $500, is required, and is not included in the rental price. After your stay, upon a final inspection, your security deposit will be mailed to you within 10 business days. Home away also offers damage protection for up to $5000 for only $99.
    We reserve the right to cancel your time slot if we have not received payment within 2 business days.

    This property is a 5 min. walk to Short Sands beach and the center of York Beach. There are well lit sidewalks from our property to the center of town. Freeman St. is a quiet street and runs parallel to rte 1a (cape Neddick Rd).

Great home; short walk to Short Sands beach & shopping

Myself and 8 other ladies had a great girls weekend here. We enjoyed hanging out on the porch when we weren't @ the beach or shopping. We would definitely stay here again.

Very comfortable, excellent location

All 9 of us stayed here comfortably and we all loved it. Perfect location- just a short walk to the beach (Short Sands) and to town, including York Wild Kingdom. My toddlers had no trouble with the walk.

House could definitely use some updates, the tile before the shower downstairs was caving in and the holes in the stairwell out the back cause some concern for our older family members

Rustic, we called it rustic.

Old, said would sleep 12, only had beds for 11, a single bed was in one of the bedrooms that had shown a double bed.

Security deposit not returned

We have not received our $500 security deposit. It has been 6 weeks since our stay. I have emailed the owner twice but have had no response regarding our security deposit. We have been renting houses in York for many years and have never had this issue. The house is old and in need of updating but everything was working.

Good location but not for 12 guests!

This cottage is well located near the sand short beach as written, kitchen is well equiped (but miss a lobster pot), home appliances are also recent and work well. But very desapppointed that this is NOT for 12 guests, only for 11 persons. The room with the sink only have one twin bed, not a double bed as described. So, we had to buy a pneumatic mattress during our stay. The owner never aswer me back about that when i wrote to him during our stay. The house in general is not in good condition, need a big cleaning and furnitures are very used.

Great Location

House was close to the beach and shopping. Owner communicated with me over a year ago. Check-in smooth and house had plenty of room for 12 people. Large front porch was the place we hung out and spent alot of our time. Back yard great to BBQ and play yard games.

Spacious rental for a large family, very clean, bedding linens were spotless and special touches thru out the house to make your stay enjoyable!

Great family house

Older home but lots of space, plenty of parking and great backyard for getting children out of house and off screens. We brought a $50 portable volleyball/ badminton net, whiffle ball, frisbee and children were playing outside all day and night. Five minute walk to Short Sands beach, 7 mins to playground. I have rented a lot of homes through VRBO. This was without question the best supplied with basics that you don't need to replenish after a few days....dishwashing/ laundry detergent, paper towels and quality toilet paper, trash bags, etc. Kitchen was well equipped. Great value.

Family vacation spot

Think we have found our new family vacation place! Plenty of house space/parking for all of us (9 adults & kids). Having the backyard to play games / hangout was awesome. Owner was great if we needed anything. Short walk to the beach, downtown or York Animal Kingdom. Appreciated the 6 bedrooms for everyone to have their personal space. Large front porch to hang out on. Will definitely be back. Felt like home away from home. Thanks for allowing us to rent your property and have a wonderful family vacation!

Large home, close to Short Sands

This is our 4th year staying in this house and we love it! When we walk in, all of the kids say "it feels like we are home". It is a very short walk to Short Sands beach, a short drive to Cape Neddick beach (the kids love looking for hermit crabs at low tide) and near all of the fun shops and restaurants in York Beach. The house itself is huge, plenty of room for our 4 adults and 6 kids. It is an older home, which is kept very clean but it is definitely "lived in". We like that for the kids! It sits on a double lot and the back yard is off of a dead end street so the kids can play safely outside. We enjoy our stays here very much!

Perfect!

Great place for large families. Very close to the beach and town, an easy walk. The front porch had lots of seating. The area seemed very safe. We would definitely book this property again!
