Nearby towns worth exploring include Ellesmere (4.5 miles) – a gateway to scenic Shropshire walks and home to a variety of independent shops – as well as Oswestry (9.5 miles) and the historic Welsh town of Wrexham (8.5 miles). Venture to Newbridge (9 miles), on the edge of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape, where riverside walks and the impressive Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (9 miles) await.


Arranged over a single storey, this wood-panelled lodge has been thoughtfully designed to maximise space. Its open-plan layout places everything within easy reach, allowing guests to socialise together throughout the day and relax in comfort each evening. The main living area incorporates a well-appointed kitchen, complete with a breakfast bar and dining table. Adjacent, the lounge features a built-in sofa, large picture windows framing spectacular views, and a wood burner alongside a TV/DVD for cosy nights indoors. Two flexible bedrooms promise a great night’s sleep: both a super-king-size room that feature zip-and-link beds that can be converted into twins on request. Serving the bedrooms and completing the lodge is a family shower room.


Step outside as often as possible and make full use of the private decking, where you can enjoy far-reaching rural views. Fire up the charcoal BBQ and gather at the outdoor seating for al fresco feasts, enjoy lazy afternoons in the hammock, or gather in the separate fire pit area for late nights of stargazing. Beyond the private space, shared facilities include a heated outdoor swimming pool (available from May to September) and a wood-fired sauna (available at £10 per person, with outdoor cold shower and cold bath facilities).
