Whittier Mountain Hideaway w/ Breathtaking Views

Tucked away on the side of a mountain at 3000 ft, this cottage offers an escape into nature with long range views and rippling creek sounds in the distance. The home is close to Dillsboro, Sylva and Bryson City. Enjoy the many activities and beautiful scenery that WNC has to offer. This cabin offers all the comforts of home including a fully stocked kitchen, a gas fireplace, Wi-Fi, yard w/ fire pit, as well as a spacious deck with new grill.

• 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms
• Kitchen: Fully equipped, drip coffee maker, Keruig coffee maker, breakfast bar, gas range, microwave, dishwasher, plenty of pots & pans
• Indoor Living: 3 TV's with Roku streaming (includes Netflix, Hulu, HBO, etc.), washer & dryer, WiFi, new central heating/AC system, complimentary toiletries
• Outdoor Living: Large deck with breathtaking mountain views, gas grill, wood burning fire pit, outdoor dining table and seating

Other things to note:
• Road is steep; 4WD or SUV encouraged, but not required.
• The internet here is not always reliable and could go out with certain weather conditions.
• Cell service is can be limited.

If you’re looking to get away on a mountain side retreat with a wonderful view, this is it. The mornings are beautiful with the sunrise behind the mountain you’re on; you get to watch the sun come up and light up the valley. This is the perfect place to just get away and relax. If you have young ones, the yard isn’t very big; you’re literally on the side of a mountain, but the porch wraps around 3/4 of the house and is very roomy. We loved it as just getting away was the point of our trip. I’ll miss the morning cup of coffee on the front porch watching the sun light up the valley. We will definitely return. We went into Dillsboro, some nice shops, priced for tourists, but they’re a tourist town I guess. We ate at the Beech Mountain Diner, it was fantastic, reasonably priced.

This was one of the most relaxing homes I've stayed in! Quiet and well appointed, the beds were perfect, the kitchen was wonderful (and easy to keep clean despite my husband's efforts). The road in is difficult, we were forewarned. Our SUV struggled with the last climb but it was worth it. We only left for groceries and our final departure since it was Thanksgiving week/weekend and bitterly cold. Our dogs enjoyed their short walks but enjoyed their cuddles in front of the television more. Lastly, our Hostess, Michelle, was everything you would want - warm, gracious, attentive, and prompt. I would definitely recommend this home if you're looking for seclusion, relaxation, and a lovely place to spend your down time.

The great escape

Michelle was very responsive, friendly and helpful. Her house is clean and organized with a well-stocked kitchen. The location was great for my wife and I which is quiet and private, although conveniently located near Sylva, Dillsboro, Waynesville and Maggie Valley. Would definitely return.

This is a great property to stay at. The view is great. The home is clean and well stocked. It’s such a relaxing and peaceful place. We absolutely enjoyed it. We will most definitely be booking in the fall to see the spectacular view that I’m sure it is.

So Peaceful

This place is amazing with beautiful views and only the sounds of nature. The drive up is also very scenic and just far enough out from the quaint little town of Sylva and Dillsboro. The house was very clean and had all of the amenities that we needed. Great communication with Michelle. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful view in quiet, remote area.

My husband and I were looking for a place to totally relax, away from the hustle and bustle and we found it. High up with a gorgeous Mountain View. Very peaceful and calming. The house is very well maintained and the owner, Michelle, was very responsive. It was a pleasure staying there.

Feels just like home…

This was our 2nd year staying at Michelle’s for Thanksgiving and it was just as great as the last year! The view is awesome, it’s close to every major road to get you to every town and the Blue Ridge pkwy. We always find new hikes, breweries, got on the Polar Express and did our 4th annual Christmas tree cutting at Boyd’s Christmas tree farm. I did not get a chance to give a review last year but I wanted to say what a great host Michelle is, she even mailed my hair straighter and curler back to me to Florida when I forgot it under the sink! Can’t say enough good things about it, thanks Michelle. Hope to stay again soon!

Good base for exploring the area

Property was clean and comfortable. Not too far from attractions and towns. Appliances and conveniences were functional and easy to use. Great view, even after most of the foliage had dropped. Driving up the mountain was actually kind of fun at first in our 2WD SUV. However, the driveway needs much improvement--loose gravel and rutted substrate on a sharp incline. Everything else was great!

Beautiful Mountain Retreat

Wonderful stay. Quiet neighborhood. We saw a black bear our first day and it made our trip! The owner was easy to contact for any questions and responded promptly. The view was incredible!

Perfect getaway spot

We loved staying here. It is centrally located to some great hiking spots. If you get a chance check out the Pinnacle Trail located in Sylva! This home is super cozy. It is stocked with plenty of blankets for cozy evenings, and the kitchen is stocked fully as well with all of your kitchen needs. The porch is lovely to sit in the rocking chairs and enjoy the beautiful Mountain View!

Great Mountain Retreat

The driveway was a little scary, but the view cetainly trumped everything. We would stay again! A couple of suggestions: a handicapped accessible entrance and safety bars and/or walk-in shower in at least one bathroim. These things are not deal breakers, but would certainly enhance the experience for seniors and/or individuals with disabilities. Michelle was attentive to our questions before and during our stay, which was most appreciated.

AMAZING VIEWS

I'm not going to lie, the driveway is a little scary but the view and cabin is worth it! This was truly the most incredible view we've ever had, and we've been staying in the Smokies for over 30 years. The cabin was spotless and beautifully decorated. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The cabin owner, Michelle, was extremely helpful for anything we needed. The living room tv went out, and she had a brand new one installed the next day. We had a wonderful visit!

Quiet Mountain retreat

This Mountain retreat Is nestled down a long winding road up in the mountains. The property is lovely and the house itself is roomy and pleasant. Comfy bed and sofa, and great water pressure! Would stay here again, but will bring an all wheel drive vehicle next time, it was tricky getting up the driveway in our regular car. Very nice place! One last tip: Screenshot the instructions for getting into the place, in case you can’t get on the website… we had to go back down the mountain to get reception to get the key code to the gate. Otherwise had a great stay :)
