About the Place
Shorebirds Resort is a bit of a kept secret—nestled between protected natural habitats, farmland, and a marine sanctuary. From your beachfront perch, you can:
• Stroll a nearly deserted beach
• Spot dolphins, seals, and pelicans from your window
• Kayak the nearby slough or paddle board off the Santa Cruz harbor

Named after our parents, Jean and Marie, this is our second home—and we’ve made it as inviting for you as it is for our closest friends. The space is designed for comfort and ease, with thoughtful touches throughout:

• Fully equipped kitchen for cooking with fresh ingredients from nearby farm stands and fishers

Host was very welcoming! Chocolates and poinsettias were on the bar rating for us with a lovely note.The beach was absolutely beautiful even with chilly and raining weather. The condo was decorated so cleverly, however it was worn and carpet and upholstered pieceswas dirty.

Host was very welcoming. The place was very comfortable with easy beach access. The thing that set it apart from other VRBOs I’ve rented recently is that there actually was cable TV so we could easily watch what we wanted to (two buddies, so sports!)

Our favorite spot!

Our favorite summer vacation destination is Pajaro Dunes, CA and every time we come we always stay at the Shore Birds Condominiums. It is a beautiful condo, a stone’s throw away from the beach, and Marc Z. is hospitable and accommodating. Would absolutely recommend a visit and plan on reserving a future stay.

Highly recommend- ease, high quality, perfect views and location

Easy, comfortable, well equipped, high quality, perfect location, sums it up! Great and positive communication with the owner made everything easy. He even let us check in a little early due to the holiday. Couches, beds, chairs, stools, all were comfy and inviting. The kitchen and beach closet had everything we could want for our food and beach needs! The decor and family dedicated touches made it feel homey and special. Could sit and watch the waves from the living room, patio, primary bedroom or just take a few steps on out to the sand! Smart lock was genius and made things even easier.

A BIG favorite

Pajaro Dunes is a favorite visit and this property owner is a delight to work with. We slept so well listening to the waves in the comfy king bed, cooked, played games by the fireplace at night and used the boogie boards every day. We will be back!

Ocean escape

We had a relaxing, special vacation at Pajaro staying at this lovely Shorebirds unit. It was decorated in an ocean theme and felt truly homey with family pictures throughout. The kitchen was well-stocked and had necessary items to cook delicious meals. The view of the ocean was beautiful from this second level unit. Our time there felt magical and rejuvenating walking the long stretch of beach followed by evening bonfires. Also, the beds are so comfortable, and it's wonderful hearing the ocean while falling asleep. The host provided excellent communication in preparation for the trip. Thank you, Marc, for the helpful information and sharing your lovely ocean home.

Family time

The condo was perfectly situated for beach time and going to Monterey. We appreciated the use of beach umbrellas, toys, and body boards. The condo was clean and we felt right at home. A good set up for our family of 4. I would not hesitate to book this condo again.

Relaxing getaway to the beach.

We had a very relaxing extended weekend at this property. The pre rental communication was very thorough, welcoming and helpful. The property is exactly as described in the listing and in photos. We were a small group - just three of us - so we had plenty of space. We cooked all our meals in the open kitchen, using the plentiful cookware and enjoyed the open floorplan. We loved opening the sliding door to hear the ocean - the beach is just steps away! A great unit for a relaxing beach getaway.

Gracious host

Fourth or fifth time to Pajaro Dunes, which tells you how much we (two old friends on their annual getaway) like this place. The ocean view from the condo was so relaxing. We played golf, went whale watching and hiked. Marc was a very gracious and responsive host

Great Beach Stay!

This is our 8th stay at Pajaro and this was the best condo experience we've had! The place had everything you needed and felt so homey and warm!! Great view of dunes and ocean! We took some friends of ours who had never been and they can't wait to go back again! A new yearly tradition has started!

Maison Jean-Marie is a wonderful retreat!

Maison Jean-Marie is a little gem of an oasis. The condo is very tastefully decorated and has everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. I loved the family mementos and pictures throughout the condo - you felt like you were staying in someone's home - not just in a rental. It was great to wake up to ocean views and have coffee and croissants on the deck - or watch the sunset from the same deck with a glass of wine. The beach is literally steps from the front door and they provide everything you would need for a day at the beach. From the time I arrived, the owners checked in with me to make sure I had everything I needed. They made me feel very welcome. I only gave it 4 stars on location - not because of the condo (it has a great location) but because Pajaro Dunes is several miles out of town and not central to many things. Carmel is only 40 minutes away if you don't mind the drive. As their website says, Maison Jean-Marie is truly the place to "distance yourself from this crazy world". I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Grandpa Grandson Senior Trip

Check-in easy at 24 hour manned gate. Glad we arrived in DAYLIGHT to locate unit. Surprised by low range 57-68 weather. Everything needed to cook breakfast nice. Carpet a little tired, recommend stretching master. Great host communications. We we’re comfortable and would stay there again.
