Arrived at 3:30 to check in found an envelope taped to door with my room key and letter that they are closed Tues and Wed. Go to assigned room and someone is living there. Assigned a second room same thing. There were also two other rooms with room keys in the door knobs ( they use old style metal keys). After waiting over an hour for staff at another hotel to get ahold of the manager we were given another room not the room I booked and paid for. We ended up leaving and heading the 3 hr drive home at 6pm as we didn’t feel comfortable stay when multiple staff manager included had no idea there were people occupying rooms and keys in doors that anybody could go in. I was told my room would be refunded that’s yet to happen and have yet to receive an apology from the manager or property management company. I understand this is off season and staff is limited but I booked 7 weeks in advance they could have cancelled my booking and I could have made other arrangements. We love Waterton and visit 4 times a year in off season so this won’t stop us from returning but I will not ever book at this hotel again.
