If you are traveling to visit Visby, you don't need a car but a rental bike will work just fine. If you plan to explore the rest of Gotland, I would suggest bringing your car (parking is not included and is paid for outside on the street) or renting one on site. If you want to explore Gotland by public transport, the bus station is a short walk from the apartment, so you can easily get around the island!
