Cherry Lodge

  • Cherry Lodge is a two bedroom, dog friendly detached, holiday home situated within the grounds of a working cherry orchard with its accommodation all on the one level it comprises of one spacious double bedroom with en-suite facilities and a further twin room, its perfect for a small family or couples looking for a getaway on the Island. Located only moments away from the centre of probably the most picturesque village on the Isle Of Wight, Godshill, an ideal central base giving easy access to all of the islands many attractions, with a winding main street, lined with a number of fantastic village pubs and tea rooms serving the best local ales and delicious cream scones and jam. The village boasts some of the oldest buildings on the Isle of Wight with its own historic medieval church at the top of the hill and numerous pretty, thatched cottages.

    There is something for all to enjoy, including a model village, museums, gift shops, pubs and restaurants. There are also many miles of public footpaths and countryside to explore straight from the doorstep. The island has become a real hotspot for cycling enthusiasts, with a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level, purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines that are easily accessed from this location. The property also has a secure, purpose built cycle shed to house up to four bikes

    LOCATION:



    With its central Island location Godshill makes a great place to base yourself for a visit to the Isle of Wight, the popular seaside resorts of Ventnor and Shanklin are about 15 minutes away, with lovely parks, gardens and glorious beaches, and the island’s capital, Newport, with its many amenities, including a leisure centre and theatre, is also 15 minutes away.



    Godshill is the quintessential English Village, and boasts some of the oldest architecture on the Isle of Wight. With its delightful medieval church, charming thatched-roofed cottages and a winding main-street lined with traditional tearooms, Godshill is as picturesque as it is popular. It is also known for being the site of the first ever Isle of Wight Festival, which took place at Ford Farm in 1968. Whatever your interests there are plenty of things to do in Along with its collection of traditional tearooms the village contains an interesting range of shops offering local crafts and produce,

    Godshill also has a very popular and highly detailed model village. The medieval All Saints Church overlooks the village from the hill and is a short but steep climb up either the steps or Church Hollow road.

    When it comes to eating out, whether you are looking for a traditional cream tea or a tasty evening meal there is an excellent selection of places to eat in Godshill. The tearooms are a regular haunt for visitors and locals alike, and the local pubs are family friendly, with high beams and cosy fireplaces and are also highly rated for their food. With its central location Godshill makes a great place to base yourself for a visit to the Isle of Wight.

Please ensure that you correctly add your pet(s) when making your booking, so this additional cost is included. If it becomes apparent that you have brought a pet(s) with you but did not advise us, we will contact you to request payment separately.



    There is a charger for an electric car at the property. Should you wish to use this during your stay there will be an additional £40 charge per stay, per week. Please do make us aware at the time of booking / in advance of your stay if you require this service, so we can arrange to take payment.

We had an excellent stay (3 nights) at Cherry Lodge. The accommodation is brand new, comfortable and furnished to a high standard. The location is perfect for touring and a short walk to the village of Godshill, possibly the prettiest on the island. The food in the Taverners is definitely recommended

Amazing spot peaceful but near to all amenities, very comfortable accommodation, finished to a very high standard. Lovely hosts very welcoming but not intrusive. Just a short drive from lots of Island attractions. we really enjoyed our break here. the garden area is enclosed but the fencing although very fitting with the surroundings and rustic isn't escape proof even with a supervised pet.

We had a wonderful week at Cherry Lodge, which is new, clean, modern and very comfortable. Rob and his son quickly called round to introduce themselves with a friendly welcome and to make sure everything was ok. Godshill is a pretty village with lots of cafes, pubs and beautiful country walks all around. I would highly recommend Cherry lodge for a stay on the island and definitely recommend trying the Cherry juice produced at the farm, it’s delicious.

The lodge was exactly as we expected. It is a lovely place. Only 3 suggestions. A fixed seat in the ensuite shower for disabled people. A mirror lower down for wheelchair users. The fence to have a lower bar to stop smaller dogs from getting out.

A lovely visit to Cherry Lodge

A lovely visit to Cherry Lodge. We enjoyed our visit and hope to return very soon again. Rob, Simeon and family have done a great job renovating Cherry Lodge which is situated on their working cherry farm. It's a real hidden gem set in a lovely tranquil location and has all mod cons. Keep your eyes out for the red squirrels which aren't too far away in the trees. We had the privilege of being the first guests and hope to return in the future to this wonderful place.

Perfect accommodation and hosts!

Absolutely stunning - Simeon and his family were so helpful - couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more - some of the days were torrential rain and gales but it was lovely to just be in the cabin, reading and relaxing - very well equipped - couldn’t ask for anything more and will definitely be returning! Loved everything about our stay and were genuinely sad to leave… Honestly struggled to think of anything to put here - my dogs are really good and great off lead and don’t wander off - but potentially only improvement if someone didn’t have dogs that were trusted - making the patio more secure? But I struggled to think of a suggestion as it was so perfect x

Lovely Property

We cannot recommend this place enough, the location is stunning The building is very homely with lovely heating and a lush shower and the sheep that are in residence some of the year (not when they can steal the leaves and cherries off the trees ofcourse) are very cute. The folder of information provided in the living room was very helpful in getting a feeling for the village and other nearby towns. The onsite owner Simeon was very friendly and a text away (number in the folder) The fireplace was lovely, the Roku TVs in the Living Room and Master Bedroom were very good. The Farm operates a self serve shop at the entrance to the farm with some lovely jams, chutneys, and juices produced by themselves as well as milk and butter from another farm on the island. There is a great bus route for either direction out of Godshill, and the Griffin Pub is well worth a visit. Overall the Property and the Village have a lovely homey vibe and we would definitely consider visiting again. The track onto the farm could do with some evening out as it was a little bumpy. The provided event info in the folder was a little out of date and could do with updating or removing. Small things in the grand scheme of things, we generally can't stop singing the praises of this place but it would be great to see these things addressed if we stay again in the future (especially the track)
