Este histórico Ft. Estructura Screven ha sido completamente restaurado y renovado.
¡Layla Palmer, de The Lettered Cottage, ha redecorado por completo esta increíble casa y ha recibido el premio Tybee Island Historic Society Preservation Award! Originalmente construido como uno de los tres Mess Halls para el fuerte, esta casa ha tenido una larga y colorida historia que incluye el tiempo como pensión. Este dúplex con malla protegida en el otro lado con su propia entrada privada, enlisted Men's Mess Hall cuenta con techos altos con ventiladores de techo, ventanas extra grandes en cada habitación, pisos de madera y porche con mosquitero.
Patio cercado con grandes palmeras y robles. A dos cuadras de la playa norte, a 5 minutos de la estación de Casa Luz Tybee y el restaurante North Beach Grill. El Jaycee Park (campos de pelota, la ruta para caminar, parque infantil) se encuentra directamente detrás de la casa.
El nivel del suelo, de acceso fácil, admite animales.

Always wonderful

We have stayed at Screened Inn numerous times, and we can't imagine staying anywhere else when we visit Tybee. We also feel that the mermaids are hands down the best property management group that we've ever encountered. We'll be back as soon as possible!

Tybee Island vacation

Stayed here for a few days with my husband, our friends and their dog. The place was perfect for two couples or a couple with a few kids. The fenced in yard was excellent for the dog too! We spent most of our time on the delightful screened in porch watching life go by on the Island. Clean, cute and cleverly decorated. Easy walk to the beach through the secret gate. I would definitely come back and stay here again.

Tybee Perfection

Spotlessly clean, comfortable and full of old Tybee charm. Quiet location near the lighthouse and easy stroll to the beach. Loved this well-appointed and homey spot!

Vitamin Sea is awesome!

My family was in town for a wedding and stayed at Vitamin Sea. This house is awesome with great space for a large family. We very much enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this house and working with Mermaid Cottages!

We loved the cottage and the details done toward historic preservation. Mornings and evenings on the screened in porch were so peaceful. The fenced in yard for the dog was great. Convenient access to the beach.

Cute property

Super clean and cute property with tons of character, close to beach. The only negatives being the locks tend to stick making it hard to get in an out at times. Bed was not to our preference. Could feel springs poking and we found it extremely hard. Might just need a mattress topper. Checkin was also late in my opinion at 4 but this was clearly stated and might be common on the island?? Even so, we enjoyed our stay.

A Little Slice Of Tybee Island Heaven!

The best birthday weekend at the cutest little cottage! We loved everything about our stay! The communication was top notch! Location was perfect! The house was so clean I let my 7 mo old granddaughter crawl around everywhere. Beds were comfy, loved the screened in porch! My husband is a builder and loved the aesthetics of this historical home. We had dinner at the Crab Shack (2 mi away and a definite must eat at) the first night and grilled steaks at the cottage the 2nd night. We enjoyed a day at the beach, which was close enough to walk to. Thank you to the sweet host for my birthday bottle of wine! We can’t wait to go back for our next stay! This is definitely one of our favorite vacation rentals! You won’t go wrong picking this cute cottage for your next Tybee Island visit!

Adorable cottage! Perfect location!

We had such a great stay at the Enlisted Men’s Mess Hall. We felt welcome before we even arrived. Tammy was wonderful checking in with us before our arrival and when we first got there. We loved how we could easily walk to the beach, lighthouse ice cream and many restaurants. The space in the cottage was just right for our family of 4 and our 2 dogs loved the fenced in yard and daily walks around the adjacent park. We would love to come back!

Gorgeous cottage

We absolutely loved our stay at the Mess Hall Cottage. The kitchen was well equipped, the porch was a lovely place to spend our non-beach time and the beach was just a short walk away. We would definitely stay here again.

Practically Perfect

This quaint cottage is in the quiet historic district at the north end of Tybee Island, within walking distance of the beach and shops. It's a duplex, but no one was in the other half of the house except for 3 days out of the month we were there. Beds and linens were comfy and soft. The screened porch is a great place to relax or dine. The kitchen is small but workable. Service and communication were top notch. Highly recommended.

Family Reunion

The property was very nice and we really likes the historic style and tone of the neighborhood. The beach is easily accessible and directions were clear and provided by the property management. We stayed for about 6 days for a family reunion in the area and really liked the property over some that other family rented. Everything was as advertised and the property manager called a few times during the visit to be sure that everything was ok for our stay. I would stay here again if ever in the area.

Absolutely Wonderful!

This property was as beautiful as pictured, and then some! A few things either not listed, or that I may have overlooked: There's a wonderful master bath (I would have brought bath bombs and candles) and there's also beach chairs and a boogie board provided! Tammy was wonderful in accommodating us throughout a few of my mishaps (murphy's law is a thing with me) and we couldn't have asked for a better location! We hope we can come back soon!

Quaint and relaxing....

We just enjoyed 4 wonderful days on Tybee Island staying in the mess Hall! We arrived to a clean cottage that was warm and welcoming. All the amenities that you need including a washer and dryer and full kitchen. Plenty of Room and we love the fenced yard for our dogs. Will definitely utilize this cottage again when we visit Tybee Island....

Beachside Oasis

An adorable and cozy vintage beach cottage located in a lovely quiet historic neighborhood; immaculately clean and perfectly equipped for a relaxing stay just a short walk from the beach. Let your fur babies play safely in the fenced in yard while you watch the world go by from the screened in porch. Take a walk through the park just a few steps from the property. A definite 10 out of 10!

Great and close to beach!

The Enlisted Mess Hall was a great property. My wife and I loved the charm of the place and the information provided was detailed. A few things to be aware of, there is no dishwasher and recycling bin. The information provided by the property manager will tell you to load the dishwasher and separate the trash. I decided to hand wash our dishes the morning we left but I am not sure if that is helpful or not. There is a "trash only" bin outside so I wasn't sure where to put the recycling and the property manager didn't answer my texts before we left so I informed them where the bag was. After getting home, I received my answer that it needs to be taken to the recycling center. I hope Mermaid Cottage's are able to update their instructions and provide instructions/directions for the recycling. Also, if you end up with some rainy days/nights like we did, you may want to watch TV and the selection is spotty at best. Weird channels like CMT and IFC not included in the package, very limited selection. If I were the property manger, I would put in Smart TVs and pull the cable subscriptions in all my properties. But that is just my opinion. A few things about the house itself. If you are tall this may not be the place for you. It is an older home, vintage. That means everything is made for when the average height for a man was only 5'5". I am only 5'8" and found myself ducking to shower and feeling like I was doing a very deep squat to reach the toilets. If you are 6'+, you will defiantly have some bending to do. Lastely, the windows don't open. At least most of them don't. I am not sure if this is a safety thing since it is a rental property but we had the opportunity to open windows due to cooler weather and get a nice breeze but were unable to. All in all, we did love this house! I hope my review doesn't reflect any differently. It is in a great location if you want to go to the beach more than anything. You may want to rent a few bicycles for getting to food locations due to limited parking on the island. But we would stay here for sure again when we return to Tybee.
