Original Twizel Bach - Pet Friendly

Welcome to our bach in the heart of Twizel, New Zealand. Twizel is a hidden gem known for its stunning landscapes, clear skies, and proximity to some of the most incredible natural wonders the South Island has to offer.

A warm and classic kiwi batch, just a short stroll from the town center. Each bed has a light blanket, mattress protector and pillow. All linen, towels etc will need to be provided by guests. Due to needing to supply your own linen this Bach may not be suitable for oversea’s traveler’s.

Our pet friendly Bach is safe and secure for small and large animals. We have installed a small dog and cat friendly door for easy indoor and outdoor access. Even the most determined escape artists will find it impossible to slip through. Your pets are warmly welcomed to relax and feel at home indoors and outdoors.

We had a great stay in Twizel. The cottage was lovely and clean and perfectly sited. Hot shower was awesome. So pleased we were able to bring our doggies with us. Highly recommend this place. Only the TV wasn't working but in the end we really didn't miss it. Thanks so much Shontelle and Paul

Rustic but comfortable cottage, good location and well appointed kitchen. Arriving there was a bit odd as one door was unlocked and the other was wide open. Clearly there had been an unexpected guest who left laundry and blankets on the floor in the bedroom and a couple of glasses on the counter. The cleaning person didn’t know what happened and I never heard back from the host when I wrote her about the situation.

I liked the size of the backyard. Also liked the blackbirds and their beautiful song. Homely looking cabin. Could have had some dry towels, but managed to dry them on the Hill's hoist.

So we did not end up staying the two nights we had paid for. The place was quite dirty and not cleaned at all. We didn't realize that linens and towels were not provided and since we were international travelers it was very difficult to find any around the area. The host never reached out about check in instructions and I had to reach out to get any information and then when I reached out about the condition of the place the host never responded back. I wouldn't recommend this rental as our experience was quite miserable and rough all in all. We had to find last minute accomodations because of the state of this property.

Sad to report that we found the bach rather shabby and unwelcoming. We had expected a basic bach (no problem with that) but it was more rundown than we expected, and we found it dusty and untidy, with a wet dirty handtowel in the kitchen. There was no firewood in the house and no kindling or firestarters so we struggled to get the fire going. There was also no information sheet with any extra information about using the bach (e.g. how to get onto the wi-fi). We did appreciate the handy location and the fenced yard for the dog.

The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is a powerful electric heater, but to warm up the bedrooms you need to keep all the doors open. There’s also a wood burner, but the air regulator wasn’t working properly during our stay.

We ask if there was a BBQ and was told there is one but it was due to be replaced should of been replaced along time ago. We went to use it and it was covered in fat and rust, the bunners were rusted out and the gas hose o ring was all cracked. Was really unhappy as we planned on having a BBQ dinner and couldn't. Next problem was the fire place we had to have to door open to get the fire to work as soon as we closed the door it went out. The wood was wet and took ages to light had to dry the next pieces out on top of the fire before putting it in.

Getaway fishing break

What a gr8, basic, kiwi bach!. Everything that we needed and was as described. Well insulated and easy to keep warm with log fire and heater. Brilliant shower. And dog friendly. Well done and thank you.
