Excellent hosts, very responsive and attentive to any needs we had. Richard and Julie were great and the property is beautiful and so peaceful! We loved our stay and hope to return to explore the area further sometime!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay and start our journey through New Zealand. The view, the location, the facilities and outdoor bath(!), and the hospitality were great. No complaints whatsoever!

Een warm welkom op een prachtige lokatie met adembenemend uitzicht. Uitstekende fasciliteiten. Heerlijk om een paar dagen te relaxen. Dichtbij Tutukaka harbour voor excursie naar de Poor Knights Islands.

Weekend break

Lovely location near several great beaches, would particularly recommend whale bay. Hot tub was lovely after a day in teh water.

Tranquil Oasis

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Aroha luxury suite. A stunning location which provided a perfect getaway from Auckland for my husband and I, it was just beautiful. A big thank you to our fabulous hosts!

Aroha suite

Staying at Aroha suite was an amazing experience. Julianne and Richard made our weekend really special. We had the best time enjoying home made meals and dining with the stunning view over the ocean, chilling in hot tub under the stars and exploring beautiful surrounding area.

Beautiful accommodations with the most tremendous views. It’s just a short drive to all the beaches. The host is super warm and friendly!! There was even milk, lots of cooking spices, and extra bathroom items ! Hope to return one day!

A beautiful property perched on a hilltop with knockout views. Well appointed, roomy living space, with all the amenities. Coupled with warm, attentive hosts, Aroha is a winner. Recommended unconditionally.

Idyllic Retreat

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The views are unbeatable, the property is quiet, peaceful and beautfully appointed. The small township of Tutukaka is minutes down the hill with some great restaurants, though dinner at home on top of the hill was wonderful also. Julianne and Richard are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend.

Absolutely Phenomenal

Richard and Jules could not have done more to make our stay phenomenal. Both of us needed an absolute break and we got it in spades. We will be back.One of those few places you really don't want to tell the truth about because you want to keep it to yourselves .

Paradise

A spectacular place. Walking in it was “Wow, just wow “. The views to Matapouri Bay and Poor Knights were mesmerizing, the bird life (think intoxicated Kereru) entertaining and the accomodations 5 star hotel level. The Aroha suite was huge and had floor to ceiling glass doors that opened to the amazing outdoors. Julianne was a delightful and gracious host. We could not have asked for a better stay and wished we could have atayed longer

Magnificent views

If beautiful views and serenity are your vibe, you'll love this property! Located atop a hill overlooking the spectacular coastline, this spacious apartment makes the most of the expansive vistas. Spacious and comfortable, it has been thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need. This meant we were able to eat in a couple of nights, although the drive in to the restaurants of Tutukaka is under 10 minutes (albeit a tad windy at night for those unfamiliar with the area). A beautiful and restful place to stay with friendly and accommodating hosts.

A small piece of paradise

We were looking for a special location for our friends and family get together (UK & NZ) after being unable to travel to meet during lockdown. Aroha lodge could not have been more perfect for our group of 2 adults and a 19 and 17yr old. It rained and rained - but the beautiful setting and the thoughtfulness of our hosts meant a great time by all enjoying open fires, hot tubs, garden games and of course Angie the dog !! It really is a gorgeous home in a stunning place - thank you !

Fabulous. A luxury getaway.

Thoroughly enjoyed our mini staycation. Beautifully appointed. Stunning expansive views plus a hot tub. From the moment we arrived, the stress just fell away. Only a few minutes to the beautiful Matapouri beach. We loved our stay. Thank you to Jules and Richard.

Ideal Spot for a Peaceful Getaway

We absolutely loved our stay at Julianne and Richard's property. A beautiful, peaceful location and a short drive to the many stunning beaches that the Northland coast has to offer. The house itself had everything we needed and was immaculately clean. We couldn't have asked for more. The hosts were extremely accommodating and were available for any questions we had. We would definitely recommend to anyone and stay again in the future.
