There is construction on the building next door and if your room faces the street it can be quite noisy all hours of the night. "Hotel reception is on the first floor of the building, which is served by a lift or you can easily walk up a flight of stairs (if you do not have heavy things to carry). First impression of Habitat is that it is modern and clean. My room was on the same floor as the reception and breakfast area. Initially thinking that it would be noisy but it wasn't. "Conveniently located by shops and restaurants/ bars on Long Street, this hotel is clean and really nicely decorated. The breakfast was delicious, the beds super comfy, the bathrooms modern, and the rooms nice and quiet. What really stood out was how thoughtful and helpful the staff were — especially at the front desk. I've stayed here a couple of times now and can't wait to come back next year."

"Clean and spacious room, with a full kitchen (although I didn't use). A complimentary bottle of wine upon checking in, as well as 2 bottles of water daily are provided, which is a very nice gesture. One drawback: the wall outlets are generally not suitable for most international travelers, but it should be easy to borrow an adapter from the front desk. Breakfast is decent, and the Chinese/Japanese restaurant at the hotel is pretty good. Other than that, one needs to go a bit farther distance...

The hotel offers a delicious buffet, which is open unless there is a special event scheduled. The best part is that it is adequately staffed for a proper 24-hour service experience. "I was received very well by the staff and got attended to whenever I needed assistance. I would recommend this for anyone traveling on a budget who still wants to stay in a warm, welcoming space. Breakfast is my highlight, and I had good views, too. So I will totally recommend it. I ended up booking the ONOMO in Johannesburg as well, and I hope to get just as good a reception."
