Solo travellers and couples can enjoy relaxed days exploring the area, from the historic beauty of Leeds Castle (12 miles), often called ‘the loveliest castle’, to the National Trust’s Scotney Castle (7.5 miles) and Sissinghurst Castle & Gardens (11 miles), once home to Vita Sackville-West. Kent’s renowned vineyards, including Balfour Winery, Chapel Down and Biddenden Vineyard, are all within 20 miles, while the market towns of Cranbrook (10.5 miles) and Headcorn (10 miles) offer independent shops and cosy cafés. Keen walkers will appreciate the network of footpaths criss-crossing the countryside, and for a change of scenery, the seaside at Hastings is 26.5 miles away. Claygate Lakes next door offering day tickets for course fishing.

This newly built shepherd’s hut is set within the owner’s garden nursery, overlooking a peaceful lake, and accessible via a few steps up. The living space has comfortable seating and a breakfast bar with two stools positioned so you can make the most of the views while you enjoy a leisurely morning coffee or meal. A well-equipped kitchen area makes it easy to prepare romantic dinners for two, while the inviting double bed and Smart TV set you up for relaxation at the end of the day. The en-suite shower room completes the inside area.


Step down the wooden steps to your private patio area with seating and a fire pit/BBQ, ideal for al fresco dining on warm evenings. You’re also welcome to make use of the various seating spots dotted around the lake and garden nursery. There is private parking for two cars, and by prior arrangement, the owners are happy to offer information about the nursery along with helpful horticultural advice if you’re green-fingered.
