This cool 60s Kiwi Bach with a modern twist is ideally located in Rainbow Point, just a stone's throw from the lake just a 1 minute walk. Boasting 3 bedrooms, open plan living, and outdoor relaxing, the stylish design gives a fresh twist on kiwiana. Just a moments wander to sandy swimming beaches, the cottage is a great place to create memories of your Taupo holiday. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay.

The Space:
Enjoy all the laid back holiday vibes in this cleverly designed 1960s Bach.

Kiwiana Cottage boasts open plan living with great connection to the sunny veranda and private lawn ensuring an ease of holiday living you will love.

Set within pretty mature gardens.

Enjoy the local beach and rope swing from morning until night, it’s just a very short wander from the house. Take to the Lions Walk by bike or on foot or make the 3 minute drive and drop the boat in at either 2 Mile or 3 Mile boat ramp.

Exceptionally located for the best of Taupo all year round.

Guest Access:
The whole home is yours to access and enjoy. You will have access to and use of the entire cottage including large veranda, private lawn and an off street carpark for 2 cars, or car + jetski/small boat.
Please note: the Bunk room is small with 2x 180cm bunks and side table.

The Neighborhood:
This is a very safe and quiet neighborhood; we are 2 minutes walk from the lake and Lions walkway.

Other Things to Note:
Rotorua is only one hours drive and Hawkes Bay within 1.5 hours drive for a day of sightseeing and for the active traveler. The Mt Ruapehu Ski field and Tongariro crossing is an 1 hour drive. The Glowworm Caves are also 2 hours drive and Hobbiton 1.5 hours making Taupo the heart of the North Island and the perfect place to stay and explore from.

Interaction with Guests:
We like to give our guests their privacy but Kerry is available by phone or text to answer any questions and we are only ever 10-15 minutes drive away if needed in an emergency.

Perfect location, clean and comfortable

The location of this lovely cottage is a minute walk from the Lake with great quiet spots to swim and at the outer edge of Taupo. We loved the garden and patio that provided excellent spots to relax and unwind. The cottage is perfectly formed, clean, quiet and comfortable.

Perfect spot

We had a great stay at rainbow cottage, it’s a fantastic location, slightly out of what was an extremely busy Taupo. It was a charming house with all the amenities we needed. Will be staying again.

Summer Concert

Great location, clean and tidy. Dissapointed in the bunk beds. Top bunk bed was unable to be used. There was a note regarding this when we arrived but this caused friction amongst the teenage kids as two of them then had to use the same bed. Advanced notification may have mitigated this or we may have made a different decision. There were some other minor issues with some light switches not working, possibly needed bulbs changing. Overall an average experience with the unusable bed causing significant, and unnecessary friction which distracted from what would otherwise have been a great break.

Cute Cottage

This cottage was a great stay with friends for a few days. Bedrooms were a bit out of proportion, with one being quite large, while the other two were very small. Other than that it was perfect for the short stay. The host was very fast at responding prior to and after check in. And it was awesome that they turned the heating on for us prior to our arrival.
