Located within the incredible 4500 beachside resort ranch that is Hacienda Pinilla the Ficus Villas is the ultimate home for your Costa Rican adventure!

Our aim is to provide you with a hotel-like experience within a private Villa setting.
We provide daily cleaning services, we will fit into a schedule that best fits our groups' needs.
Additional housekeeping breakfast preparation help hours can be pre-arranged.

Whether it is In house catering, sunset cruises, adventure tours or even tips to secluded beaches, our team has the local knowledge to assist in planning your ultimate tropical vacation.
Transportation to and from Liberia International Airport, the San Jose International Airport, or booking a rental car can also be arranged.

HACIENDA PINILLA BEACH CLUB

We have a corporate membership for our guests to enjoy the exclusive Hacienda Pinilla beach club on Playa Avellanas.



The Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club sits right on the shores of Playa Avellanas, With an infinity-edge pool looking over the famous surf break of Little Hawaii. The Beach Club has something for everyone whether it's cocktails and or fruit smoothies from the poolside Tiki Bar, kicking back in the poolside sunbeds, surfing one of the world-class breaks of Playa Avellanas, working out in the ocean view fitness center, or relaxing with a massage in the wellness center, its the ultimate beach day!
***Beach Club has an annual closing in October every year.***

As a guest of this property, the entry into the beach club is $10 which is then used as credit at the beach club bar and restaurant (only paid once per day and for ages 10+)

With 3 miles of coastline within the 4500-acre ranch, there is always a corner, tidepool or wave to be found.
Playa Mansita & Bonita, home of the JW Marriott hotel a great stretch to beach comb and explore tide pools on the lower tide.
Playa Langosta, world-class surfing, beach, and river fishing. We believe Langosta to be the hidden gem of Hacienda Pinilla, the shaded palapas are a great spot for a beach day in the shade, and your just a stroll and river crossing from the action of Playa Langosta and Tamarindo
Playa Avellanas, home to the Hacienda Pinilla Beach club and 6 World-class surf breaks including Little Hawaii, the Estero, dead tree, and Lolas


JW MARRIOTT HOTEL
Hacienda Pinilla is home to the JW Marriott hotel, as our guest, you have access to the numerous restaurants on offer. You can also purchase a day pass for use of the hotel's pool which is the largest in Central America. The day pass gives you access to all of the hotel grounds and amenities.

18-hole par 72 beachfront golf course ( the beachfront hole has an awesome sunset view on a secluded beach)


TENNIS COURTS
3 hard-court tennis courts with an onsite instructor. private, semi-private, and or group lessons are available. Kids camps and pickleball events are regular activities.


HORSE STABLES
The best way to explore the 4500 ranch is by horseback. Tours are available at any time and can be customized to fit your group's needs, with rides from 30 mins to 2 hrs taking you through the forest and out along the secluded beaches all here within the ranch.


MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS
With over 45 kilometers of trails throughout the ranch, forest, and coastline, Hacienda Pinilla is a great location for mountain biking. With natural scenic routes and rigorous trails for every type of bike rider, Hacienda Pinilla offers up adventure, challenge, and enjoyment for families, first-timers, experts, and everyone in between.


SURFING
Hacienda Pinilla has to be one of the best locations in Costa Rica to base your surf trip. With 6 waves just on Playa Avellanas and private access to the beach breaks of Playa Langosta, you don't even need to leave the ranch, but if you looking to explore the area, the famous Playa Negra reef breaks are just 10 minutes south and the river mouth and beach breaks of Tamarindo just 10 minutes to the north.

You can get around by renting a car, renting our golf cart, renting bicycles, or hiring a shuttle or taxi. Tamarindo, with its shopping, dining, and nightlife is just 15 minutes away. The Daniel Oduber International Airport in the town of Liberia is just an hour away. Hacienda Pinilla offers a free shuttle throughout the community during the peak season holidays. It runs every 30 minutes and requires notice 15 minutes ahead of your pick-up time. There is a medical clinic within the Hacienda Pinilla community.

House
Rates are based on up to 10 guests. An additional fee applies per guest after the 10th person, up to the maximum occupancy of the property. Please make sure to include the total number of guests in your booking to receive an accurate quote.

The property consists of a 3 bedroom main home (8 guests), 2 bedrooms detached villa (10 guests), 'Luxury Rancho' (outdoor kitchen and poolside lounge), swinging hammock garden, and a Private pool all tied together under the shade of our beautiful Ficus tree.

We have a MistAway mosquito misting system installed that is programmed to automatically spray a very fine mist of a mild botanical insecticide through a nozzle circuit installed around your property. With just two or three short mists per day, mosquitoes and other annoying insects disappear from our property yard.

The Ficus Villas are 5 bedrooms and it is set up for up to 20 guests. Our layout, space, and privacy allow a wide range of options. whether it's a romantic getaway, a family reunion, or a large group retreat the ficus villas can accommodate your group's desires. All of our internal spaces are air-conditioned with individual units allowing you to customize your cooling throughout the home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Ficus Villa. The house was perfect for our party of 10. The house was well maintained and just as described. Erika was great coming in each day and attending to us. The entire Pinillas team was great and very helpful starting when we first made the reservation several months ago. The team helped with all needs and concierge services, even assisting with a chef for a night.

Excellent Vacation Home with Teens

This house was exactly as we expected. This was our 3rd time in Costa Rica and 2nd time staying in Hacienda Pinilla. We love the neighborhood and surrounding area so much. We had 5 adults and 5 teens. The separate house off the pool was perfect for our teens! They loved having their own space. Erica did a great job keeping the house clean and making us a Costa Rican breakfast one morning. The concierge team is very responsive and helped us plan a fishing trip and anything else we needed. The A/C units worked great and kept us cool and comfortable our entire stay. I would highly recommend the Ficus Villas!

Great property for groups

Perfect property for our group of 8 adults and 9 kids under 7. Plenty of room inside and out. The management team was super responsive and set us up with any resources we needed along the way. The neighborhood is about 30 minutes from tamarind, but super safe and has a great beach club with extra pool and spa services. 100% recommended for families and groups.

Anniversary Family Vacation

Ficus Villas was perfect for our family of 10! 6 adults & 4 kids (ages 10 mo - 6 years) The pool was perfect! The palapa was a great place to hangout listening to the afternoon rain & thunder. The casita was perfect for the family with the baby. Erika took care of the home daily and cooked us breakfast one morning. She would have cooked more, but our littles were early risers, so we made breakfast most mornings. The 2 washers and dryers were super convenient! Tatiana was very helpful! Communication prior to arrival and during stay was very prompt A couple of details that we suggest be addressed: Master shower head - water spraying in every direction - either clean or replace Remotes were missing batteries Family room tv seems to be going out (right side of screen is black) Ceiling fans were not 100% operational (some speeds) and were very loud Plastic left over containers are cracked - fruit juice leaked in fridge as we were unaware - should be replaced Would be nice to have a high chair Please update your listing by removing the grocery stocking service that was discontinued Please update your listing that travel time to / from Liberia airport is 90 minutes. We made 6 trips to / from and took us at least 90 minutes each time. Please know that none of these would prevent us from coming back! Thank you for a truly fabulous home & location. Home away from home!

I can't say enough about how amazing our stay at the Ficus Villas was! Erika was the highlight and made every aspect of our trip better, turning the house into a home. The place was spotless and immaculate, she was so welcoming, and made the BEST breakfasts that fueled our whole trip. She is an amazing cook and does a great job working with our random groceries. I highly recommend grabbing some ingredients for Gallo Pinto, we had it with breakfast every day and was amazing. The home is very well stocked, with everything you need to make yourself at home. The pictures don't do it justice - it is a truly stunning home and property. The rooms are spacious and nicely laid out. There is a lot of seating and areas to gather together for meals and hanging out, but enough space to hang out on your own if you need to get away from the crowd (we were a group of 10). You will likely not want to leave the home but if you do, we really enjoyed that Ficus Villas includes membership to the Pinilla Beach Club, which was amazing. Mergie and the property management team are super responsive answering any questions we had, and even helped us set up a horseback riding excursion at the last minute which was wonderful. We hope to be back soon to this wonderful oasis :)

Wonderful villa. My son turned 40 and wanted to brush up on his surfing skills . His children enjoyed the nearby beach and beach club. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating as there were maintenance issues with the pool with cloudy water limiting the use by my grandchildren. The recommended vendors for activities were all excellent.The pool maintenance vendor should be reviewed. The cool/ house keeper was a hard worker and excellent cook.

Great location! Beautiful house! The bunk room was so fun for the kids!! Both the indoor and outdoor areas were perfect. Very prompt replies to questions or issues. We were a family of 15, all ages, and it worked out wonderfully!

Amazing Experience

We were a group of 15 spanning 5 generations. We stayed at Ficus Villa for a week. The entire stay was simply amazing. The Villa is way better than the pictures. The pool was fantastic. All the rooms were comfortable, the common spaces were great for family hangouts. The best experience was the concierge team and the housekeeper. They ended up becoming our extended family and helped us have one amazing experience after another keeping our preferences in mind and being very reactive and attentive even with last minute changes. We cannot recommend this place enough. The place is great, but the concierge team will make it a truly exceptional experience.

AMAZING

Where do I begin? This was an absolutely amazing stay! I booked this house for a bachelorette trip for 15 girls, it ended up being 12 but the space was perfect! We had an ample amount of space to hang out and relax, the outdoor patio was a frequent hang-out spot. Jose, Mergie and the rest of the Vida Pinilla team were amazing when it came to communication and helping set up things for our arrival. I would definitely recommend using the pre-stocking option unless you have your own transportation. The villa is secluded which is nice for privacy but you have to drive everywhere. The house was clean upon arrival and Erica, the housekeeper made sure it stayed that way and also prepared us breakfast. (No service is provided Sunday). We also enjoyed having the washer/dryers available. It rained a few times we were there, but the house was so spacious and had many entertainment options, that we didn’t feel like we wasted any of our vacation. I would definitely recommend this property for large groups! Everyone in my group throughly enjoyed their stay.

Best house ever for big family vacation

This house was perfect from beginning to end for our family of 12... 6 adults, 4 kids and 2 babies. It was very clean upon arrival and there was a huge platter of freshly sliced fruit to welcome us. The daily housekeeping worked out so well having the linens changed out every day, washing the dishes, keeping the floors swept and mopped and everything looking like we had just walked in for the first time. The pool was perfect and the yard so nice and beautifully lit at night. We enjoyed the use of the Hacienda Beach Club nearly every day and it was nice to be able to go from beach to pool easily. We walked to Lola's one day for lunch which took about 20 minutes but was fun and easy for everyone. All in all everything was perfect and we'd definitely like to go back one day.

Amazing property and management team

The house was beautiful and such a fun space to be in. We loved the proximity to the beach club and to the other villas around as well. But even more notable than this, was the quality of the house management team. They really served not just as house managers but as a full concierge service that was willing to help us with all of our needs no matter how big or small. I definitely recommend staying here!

Thanksgiving week in Tamarindo

This house was just as it is pictured~perfect! It was a wonderful place for our family of 14 ranging in age from grandparents to a 2-year-old. The house, the pool, the outside areas had everything we wanted or needed. Joel and Mergie were always quick to respond, from the planning of our trip to anything we needed during the vacation. Erica made an amazing breakfast each day and kept us organized, and always gave us a perfectly clean house to come back to at the end of a busy day exploring Costa Rica. Such a treat! Pura Vida!!

Group Trip

The property was absolutely beautiful! Better than the pictures. Everything felt so luxurious!! There was so much space for our group and everyone had their own private space. Ample sleeping arrangements. The communal areas were fantastic and so was the pool. We utilized these spaces every night and morning. The housekeeper came everyday to keep things tidy. Felt very safe with 2 gates to get through to access the villa. Lots to do within the gated community including the beach club (other things offered by the hosts like horseback riding/ziplining). The hosts were very communicative and quickly responded to every inquiry. Utilized the host's taxi service into Tamarindo (about 25 min) multiple times and they were very reliable. Grocery store options nearby (minimart and supermarket). The stay was absolutely perfect and I would recommend the villa to anybody!

Pura Vida Luxury

We stayed 11 night in August with a family of 12 (6 adults, 6 teenagers). The accommodations were exactly as noted in the written profile. The communication was perfect, the home gorgeous and clean. If you aren’t satisfied…that may be you more than the home. We travel a fair amount and this rates up there for Vrbo accommodations. The space was more than enough for everyone to spread out — loved the messy teens in the other house! The only thing unexpected was that the third bedroom (the non-master off the pool) in the main house has the bathroom outside the room next to laundry, not inside the room like the other two rooms in the main home - not an issue as everyone has their own bathroom per room, but different than the other rooms. I may have missed that note in the profile. An absolute must is golf cart rentals and a car. The Hacienda Pinilla property is huge and it’s warm so walking to the beach club isn’t feasible. There is so much to explore on the golf carts and the kids loved the mobility. Make sure to visit Tamarindo - great shopping and some excellent food (Pangas, Bamboo Sushi, Patagonia were memorable). Ironically, after too many recommendations from locals and visitors to list, we finally went to Il Rustico (Italian, no less) and the night was perfection from ambiance to spectacular cuisine — a howler monkey watched from the tree! This restaurant is a 15 minute golf cart ride away headed to Playa Avellanas. If you make it a bit farther you should check out Lola’s for an afternoon cocktail/visit or surf lesson. Don’t bother researching excursion providers. Mergie/Joel have vetted all providers. Tell them what you are interested in and go that route. Prices are same. A small, private, well appointed gym just opened up while we were there that is part of the gated community Ficus Villas are in, this was better for us as the Hacienda Pinilla beach club gym was often busy. Pool at house was excellent and we spent a ton of time both at the beach club pool and in our own. Pura Vida! Thank you, Joel and Mergie. It was wonderful!

Most Relaxing Atmosphere Ever!

The community of Hacienda Pinilla is beautiful, calm, and relaxing. Our group of 16 enjoyed lounging around the pool, cooking meals in the beautiful, well-stocked kitchen, and visiting the Beach Club. Mergie, the concierge was extremely kind and attentive. The best part for the kids/teens was driving around the golf carts. Keep in mind that this home is part of a HUGE gated community. You absolutely MUST have a car to exist here as supermarkets are a 20 minute drive from the house at minimum. Definitely bring groceries with you or take them up on their offer to stock the kitchen prior to your arrival. After an adventure-filled week in Manuel Antonio, Hacienda Pinilla was the perfect place to relax before heading back to life in the real world…
