I normally don’t write reviews about hotels I say at, but this time I have to review the Swiss in Tallinn because the unexpected mixed experience. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and tidy, but…cold. The room temperature was absolutely reminding of a cheap hostel, and there was nothing to be done about it, I turned the heat up to the maximum but it stayed the same. Secondly, the “spirit” or “feel” of a high class five star hotel was missing. I have been warned several times at the check in that “breakfast is not included”, which I acknowledged and confirmed I will pay for. In fact, the front desk blocked a deposit on my credit card for incidentals. Next morning, I had to spend 5 minutes at the door to the breakfast room, because the host there wouldn’t let me in until he made sure I actually PAID 28 Euro, in front of him. I told him I will charge it to my room but he was adamant “cash or card”. That was absolutely embarrassing and unexpected from a 5 star hotel. The problem was that the next morning the situation repeated itself (with a different host) , but I made a point of not paying for it and insisting to have that charged to my room. The process took so long that a 10-15 guests queue was formed. Incredibly embarrassing. Same kind of issues were also present at the spa: the host agreed to supply me with a robe, a towel and slippers only after a very insistent request on my end - I was told that I should come down already prepared and with the
