If you are considering visiting this vineyard, go all in and stay there! It’s the best spot in the region: the hotel, the restaurant, the vineyard in itself…top notch!!!

The property was beautiful, but I found that the amenities were lacking for guests. Only certain things were available at certain times, the staff could not provide milk for my coffee in the morning, I had to get it from the kitchen, and apparently they are not the same company. It just seemed weird. The view from the room was amazing and the included tour was very good.

We had a wonderful stay at The Vine House. It is so beautiful, the location is just gorgeous, the views are absolutely to die for from the rooms and terrace and it is the most peaceful place to relax and unwind. I would definitely recommend a room with a balcony so you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. This is really more of a B&B than a fully equipped hotel as there aren't lots of facilities which we knew beforehand. The restaurant was delicious (although the portions a little small for the price perhaps) and pool setting beautiful (although it wasn't open during our stay). Staff were lovely and the tour of the vineyards was a lovely touch. Overall we would absolutely recommend this gorgeous spot

Our two-night stay at The Vine House at Quinta de São Luiz was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. With only 11 beautifully designed rooms, it feels peaceful, intimate, and incredibly special. The rooms were spotless, modern, comfortable, and even smelled amazing. The bed and linens made for a wonderful night’s sleep, and waking up to breathtaking views of the Douro Valley was unforgettable. The infinity pool is spectacular and surprisingly private, allowing us to fully relax while taking in the incredible scenery. Even with vineyard tours taking place nearby, the pool area remained quiet and secluded. Dinner at the restaurant was exceptional, with delicious food and thoughtful attention to every detail. Our stay also included a tour and wine tasting at Kopke Port Wines, which was fantastic and added even more to the experience. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy some of the most beautiful views in Portugal, The Vine House is truly magical. It’s the kind of place where evenings on your private terrace, overlooking the Douro Valley under a blanket of stars, become memories you’ll cherish forever. We would return in a heartbeat.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour au Quinta de Sao Luiz !! La chambre était impeccable avec une vue à couper le souffle sur le Douro et les vignes !! Le personnel a été très aidant, capable de nous répondre en français ! La visite guidée du vignoble avec la dégustation est très appréciée, notre guide étant très compétent Bref je recommande fortement le Domaine Sao Luiz pour un séjour mémorable dans l'extraordinaire vallée du Douro! Une destination à ne pas manquée lors de votre séjour au Portugual !!

We have the staff an Excellent, but the only staff member that we had an excellent continuous interaction with was Lilli!!! She was fabulous! Booked us great reservations at restaurants and was always upbeat and interested! The restaurant was good, but the breakfast that was included was horrible. We had been all over Portugal eating many breakfasts that were included with the hotel and this one did not have a lot of effort pudding to it. The hotel rooms, location, and views were off the charts like nothing we had ever seen! The winery part of their destination is separate from their actual hotel and you can tell that. The tour which wasn’t included did not provide accurate information and seemed like she couldn’t wait to get it over with :-) but that said if you are looking for the most fabulous location with a view, like no other, this is the place for you. Just be aware of the other things.

Our stay at The Vine House was memorable and truly special — especially as the first guests to book through Expedia! The accommodations were spotless, peaceful, and well-appointed, with a view that needs to be properly experienced again on a clearer day — we’ll definitely be back for that full balcony moment. It’s important to note that the lodging/tasting experience is managed separately from the food service, which is helpful to know when booking. A small hiccup at dinner was handled with grace and professionalism — special thanks to Marco and Ana for their attentiveness and commitment to making things right. We left feeling very satisfied with their response. The wine tasting experience is an absolute must, with beautiful grounds, knowledgeable staff, and a sense of Douro charm that made the visit unforgettable. This was our first time in the region, and The Vine House set the bar incredibly high. Highly recommend for couples, wine lovers, and anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in one of the most scenic parts of Portugal.

I stayed at Quinta de São Luís (Vine House) and I have to say, this was hands down the highlight of my entire trip to Portugal. I’ve traveled quite a bit, but I had never seen anything this beautiful. From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. My room was stunning — incredibly spacious with a huge balcony overlooking the most breathtaking views. The bed was so comfortable, and I loved the thoughtful touches like the complimentary little bottles of wine in the room. The service was exceptional. Ana, in particular, went above and beyond to make my stay special. She personally recommended a nearby vineyard where I had an unforgettable lunch — the food was absolutely delicious. I also had the chance to do a wine tasting tour, which was such a fun and memorable experience. The wines were fantastic! This place truly feels like a 5-star experience in every way. If I could give it more than five stars, I absolutely would. My only regret is that I stayed just one night — I wish I had planned to stay longer during my nine days in Portugal. I’m already dreaming about coming back. If you’re looking for a place that combines luxury, stunning scenery, incredible wine, and outstanding service, look no further. Quinta de São Luís is pure magic.

Great stay. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating staff. The hotel itself looks brand new and is beautifully arranged. The restaurant is excellent. Only small complaint was the road and parking at the top of the estate near the hotel was a bit confusing. They said there's still some parts of the road under construction so this might not be relevant in the near future.

We absolutely loved the vine house and would highly recommend staying here. The property is beautiful and has an incredible infinity pool overlooking the Douro River and valley. Our room had a great balcony to enjoy sunrise and sunset. The restaurant was also great for dinner (so much food!), and Pinhao was easy to reach by car for our wine and boat tour. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We were also able to charge our vehicle overnight complimentarily. There was a Nespresso machine in the room, even outfitted with decaf (you almost never get this!), as well as complimentary port tasting bottles in the room. There was additionally a complimentary small group winery tour with tasting. We loved it! Such a great spot.

They surprised us with an upgrade and port wine for our anniversary, which was so nice and much appreciated. The view is amazing! We loved the included wine tour of Kopke, would recommend coming and staying here instead of doing a wine tour from Porto, it was such a nice relaxing experience. Highly recommend!!
