Oak Tree Cottage: Beautiful farm with mountain views.

  • Our four bedroom cottage is located in Waynesboro, VA at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway meet here, so it's a perfect place for your family to meet too!

    We are adjacent to the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest and the Sherando Lake Recreation Area, and only fourteen miles from the skiing, golfing and tennis at Wintergreen Resort. Yet we are yet so easy to get to -- tucked in the crossroads of Interstates 81 and 64, only five miles from exit 96 on Interstate 64. We are only 27 miles from the University of Virginia and Monticello in Charlottesville, VA and only 150 miles from Washington, DC.

    Oak Tree Cottage sits in the edge of the forest, overlooking the open fields of our 1,000-acre farm and the Blue Ridge mountains. We have hiking trails, wildlife and bird watching galore, and restored meadows. In early September, monarch butterflies migrate through the farm.

    Relax and enjoy nature or head out to explore nearby wineries, breweries, history, biking events, the Appalachian Trail or the arts. We are a great home base to explore Virginia!

    The first floor of the house has a living room, a full kitchen with island, a large dining table with seating for nine, a glass-walled room that provides a full view of the forest, as well as two bedrooms and a full bath. On the second floor, there are two more bedrooms and another full bath. The house has hot- water baseboard heat. We also have a private pool available for the use of our guests. There is no lifeguard on duty.

    Small weddings are allowed on property for an additional fee. Please inquire if you are interested.

This was a wonderful property to stay at. You felt like you were away from everything, but all the conveniences were just a short drive. The house was beautiful with a great pool to enjoy. The owners were lovely to work with. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area! Highly recommended for others as well.

We loved this home! We traveled here with our 5 children to explore the area & visit Monticello. The size and amenities were perfect. It has a lived in touch and has everything you could need to spend a week here with your family. The house is older so expect creaking floors & doors, but that adds to the charm. The views are remarkable & I could sit in the back room looking at the trees for days! The owners are nearby, responsive, & very sweet to visit with. Although it rained during our visit, my kids had to jump in the pool plus got to enjoy seeing 100s of fireflies in the evening.

Really loved this place! It was great for a weekend with friends from all over the east coast. The kitchen was perfect and the place was so chill. Definitely would consider coming here again.

Beautiful and cozy

Dave and Karen are great hosts. There are so many thoughtful details at this property! We had 3 generations of family and we enjoyed the scenery, pool, birds, and very comfy beds!

Our second stay here was even better than the first! Wonderful hosts, great location. Everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation. A highlight was our hike at nearby St. Mary's Wilderness. No steep slopes, beautiful mountain stream and waterfall. Go early in the day (parking is a bit limited).

Spring Retreat

Oak Tree Cottage provided a beautiful place for our group of older friends to enjoy time together. Sleeping arrangements were perfect for our group. We loved being outside on the deck or by the pool and also enjoyed the dining/gathering space across the back of the house overlooking the woods. The hosts were super nice and helpful. A wonderful stay!

Wonderful experience

The cottage was clean, cozy, comfortable and well stocked. The linens were comfortable. Location was convenient to family , stores and Charlottesville.Dave and Karen could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. Any issue was addressed timely.I look forward to returning to this cottage!

Peaceful house with mountain views

This was the perfect place for a family group of 8, enjoying the quiet of the countryside and views of the mountains. There was plenty of seating and a big dining table. We would come back in the future.

I cannot say enough positive things about this property & hosts. Karen & Dave answered all of my questions & there were lots as this was a biz trip. ALL the beds are SUPER comfy. The showers are amazing. The air conditioning is off the charts. The ceiling fans also moved the air. The pool was beautiful, clean and a relief from the heat. The dining room table handled our group. The kitchen was well stocked. A welcome gift of locally made goods was waiting on us upon our arrival. A storm hit while we were there & Dave was right there cleaning everything up. They are kind hosts & will be as helpful as you want them to be while giving you and your group space. And OH! The SUNROOM! It's like being right there in the woods without the bugs! There are two chairs facing the gorgeous view of the mountains that we took advantage of as well. We will be booking the property again! Thank you Dave & Karen for a wonderful stay!

Oak Tree Cottage is Great

We enjoyed our stay at the Oak Tree Cottage. The house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The pool is great and we loved spending time in the sunroom. We had such a relaxing time, we hope to return. Karen and Dave are excellent hosts. We highly recommend Oak Tree Cottage.

Amazing!

Beautiful views from the farm. A peaceful setting. Easy access to local attractions, including Monticello, Shenandoah, and a wide choice of vineyards and breweries. The pool is lovely. The hosts are wonderful. They are friendly and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome.

The Best of the Best

An amazing, gorgeous property! The house was exactly as described but the view was even better in person. It was stocked with everything we needed, clean/ready to go, and check in/out instructions were easy to follow. Bonus that the owner was such a delight to talk to! My friends and I had a great time and we highly recommend!

This location is ideal for hiking the trails accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. The home is on 1,000 acres and feels very private since the owner's home is the only other house on the property. We were pleased with both the cleanliness of the home and the comfort of the bed. The owners, Karen and Dave, were very hospitable hosts who made sure that we had everything that we needed for a pleasant stay. We did hike a bit on the property and saw a lot of deer while walking. I don't think you will regret choosing this home.

Excellent stay

The house had everything you would want or need in a VRBO The pool was right outside the front door, loved sitting on the deck with all the shade from the oak trees, great farm to hike, loved the special local treats the owners left. Great sunroom with a big family gathering table. Definitely will be back!

Beautiful stay with a big group!

We traveled here with 6 adults and 3 children and had a wonderful time! The cottage is in a beautiful location and close enough to get to stores and restaurants. It’s incredibly clean, well-appointed and perfect for big groups. The owners are very friendly. We enjoyed exploring outside and playing games with the kids. There are also lots of hiking options nearby. We were there for a wedding but we would definitely come back!

Relaxing Oasis

Our group thoroughly enjoyed this gem! The home is exceptionally clean and well organized. The pool was sparkling against the beautiful backdrop of the mountains. The owners clearly treasure this property and add little extras to enhance their guests’ experience. We hope to return next year.
