This home had everything we needed to enjoy life at the beach for 6 weeks. Well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, quality towels and linens, a short and scenic path to the beach. Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. We will be back!

We repeated our stay this year for another 2 weeks. The house is well appointed with linens and towels in like new condition. My dog loves the big yard. I did wipe down the kitchen when we arrived. The views from the upstairs master are great. My husband really enjoyed the screen porch. I would suggest adding bath mats in the bathrooms and some additional large size mugs.

We loved the easy access to the beach for walking. The house was comfortable and nicely laid out for 4 adults. Our hosts were very responsive and easy to work with. Very quiet with a lovely porch swing to enjoy sunrises.

Thank you for a wonderful stay! The house was absolutely perfect for my wife, my son, and I. The house was immaculately clean and well-appointed, and as a rarity on the island, not too big. The beds were very comfortable. We loved the short 2-3 minute walk to the beach, and from there a short 20 minute stroll to the jetty or the pool. (or a two-minute car ride). The beach chairs and the beach cart were a huge bonus. Thank you, we plan to be back!

Very clean and house is just as pictured. It is located about 4 miles into a gated community. The path to the beach is only about a 2 minute walk, however the closest pool within the community is about 1 mile away so will need to drive. The property manager was very easy to communicate with and responded quickly to questions.

4 week Stay - Spring 2025

Had a pleasant 4 week stay here in spring 2025. We love St. George Island and the Plantation—have rented several properties there in the last 10 years. We had no major issues, but overall, compared to other nearby properties, this was average at best.Pluses:•The location is great-- natural, quiet, and uncrowded; beach is close by; home had few if any close neighbors.•Nice newish fluffy towels•Unlike a one reviewer, we found the mattresses comfortable.No major individual issues that were worth complaining about, and we recognize the challenges of maintaining a pet friendly home in a near-the-ocean environment. Several minor issues that might not be important for a short stay, caused the lower rating:•The general cleanliness and condition of the premises was not great.•Some fixtures didn’t work well: sticky doors, broken shelves, balky or practically unusable blinds, toilet that ran water continuously, broken fireplace.•Supplies were sparse or non-existent: no extra toilet paper or paper towels, no cleaning supplies.•Kitchen pots, pans, utensils were old and not in great condition. Basic supplies were sparse and seemed to be a mishmash of whatever previous tenants had left.•Furnishings were dated, banged up and generally not of great quality.All in all, the home was adequate but needed some updating and general TLC.

Green retreat

The property was as described on VRBO. The host responded quickly to a small maintenance matter. The house was clean and well appointed with extras such as garbage bags, laundry and dishwasher pods, Kleenex and chocolate! The linens and towels were good quality. We enjoyed our 2 week stay very much.

Beautiful community and quick owner response, but house needs maintenance and is overpriced!

We've done beach vacations all over the Charleston area for many years. This was the first time (and last) in the "Forgotten Coast" area. PROS: The gated community is well-maintained, beautiful, quiet w/ miles of walking and biking trails, and very, very few people at the beach (at least this time of year). The owner responded very swiftly to our initial problems, though at some point we gave up, simply because we didn't want to waste our vacation texting about the house. CONS: Due to recent hurricanes started off w/ broken outdoor firepit and partially repaired drywall sections from small leaks - totally understandable. However, we also arrived to disconnected TV cables broken Roku remotes (owner quickly replaced), damaged outdoor DSL cable (apparently it just runs above ground across the neighbor's gravel driveway), missing lightbulbs in several rooms, a leaking sink faucet, a leak under the kitchen sink, a leaking toilet, very loud AC in the master bedroom (fan can't be turned off), partially clogged shower drain ( and cracks in the shower floor that may soon leak to more water damage), an ill-equipped kitchen w/ a total of 6 forks (home sleeps 6?) and 1 sad wine glass. There is really not a whole lot to do in the area, especially when you can't go swimming on the many red-flag days or because of unsafe levels of bacteria in the water. We found the house overpriced compared to other beach homes in better locations and because of the poor maintenance level.

Perfect All Around

Our family had a wonderful experience at this Awesome St George Island Home. The house is very comfortable and no detail has been left unattended. The walk to beach is so easy and serene. Mara was quick to answer my silly tourist question with grace and kindness. We can't wait to book our next stay!!!

Everything was great. Communication with owner was quick, easy and helpful. Had to add an additional pass for our son and the owner took care of this in a timely manner. Walk to beach was shorter than I thought it would be, so that was nice. Overall everything was excellent and would stay here again.

This house was great and the community the property is on is so nice. We have 3 kids, preteen to teens. The house was roomy and the walk to the beach I thought would get old but it’s not as far as I thought. We saw lots of cute lizards and birds on our way. We loved all the outside space. We were on the screeded in porch a lot.

Lovely Home!

Great house in an excellent location. Privacy and quiet away from the hubub of town; walk to beach in 2min. Furniture and bedding was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Host was incredibly easy and prompt in communication. Highly recommend!

Spring Break from NC

We had a fabulous time! It was a Spring Break trip with teens who loved all the activities available on the Plantation. Bike riding, fishing, and kayaking - they did it all as well as the beach! Lovely location, very quiet and peaceful, and private. Property owners with great communication - quick to reply with questions and we had no issues. And extremely clean! No complaints - can't wait to return!! Thank you!!

Beach time

Location very nice, however, the furniture was poor at best. We could not get a decent nights sleep due to poor quality of mattresses and age of the pillows. The furniture appears to have been second hand or poorly made new. The pots and pans were inadequate and some were caked with rust and no dish clothes to do dishes. One of our biggest concerns was the lack of safe evacuation from the second level in the event of a fire, the only way to be safe would be to jump from the top level which is equivalent to a third story jump. The bathrooms have no fans so getting your towels dry was a challenge and the smell after several days was unpleasant. The furniture for the beach was poor at best. Location an A the house, needs some attention.
