The house is located in one of the oldest and the most picturesque parts of Split, the city founded 17 centuries ago by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Popular wine and cheese bar Paradox is just around the corner. If you like ice cream, stand in line in front of the most popular parlour in town, Luka's Cakes & Ice Cream. At the walking range are numerous venues which turned Split into one of the Croatian capitals of gastronomy, such as taverns Varos, Hvaranin and Villa Spiza, pizzerias Galija and Maslina, restaurants Tinel, Nostromo, Bokeria, Uje, Mazzgoon and many, many others. In Plinarska Street, just behind the Croatian National Theatre, at the foot of Marjan hill and forest park, and a short walk from the main seaside promenade Riva you will find the house. It's more than a century old, but just renovated. (2017) We have three apartments, each one of them with a separate entrance.
On the ground floor of the house there is a studio apartment with a separate entrance straight from the street. It's furnished with a queen-size bed, and sofa bed, and there is also a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.

If you arrive by ferry, ship, bus or train, harbour and main stations are just 15 minute walk from our our house.Residents of Split usually say about their city that it's the craziest, but also the most beautiful in the world. As the second largest in Croatia, Split is a modern, vibrant city with a magnificent history. It goes all the way to ancient Greeks' times. However, the city's history corner stone is the Roman Emperor Diocletian who built his massive palace 17 centuries ago, exactly where Split's city centre today lies. After reigning Roman Empire for 21 years, and gaining an important place in history, he retired to the place only few kilometres from the village where he was born, in the neighbourhood of Salona, capital of the Roman province Dalmatia. Since 1979 Diocletian's Palace and the surrounding area of Split's historical old town are listed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List. No wonder „Splićani“ (local term describing persons who live or originate in Split, pron. „spleechanee“) are so proud on their city, and dedicated in knowing every single detail about it. After the age of Roman Empire, Split had grown around the Palace, going through rules of many empires and kingdoms, including Venice and Napoleon's France. City's centre is filled with layers of architectural and historical styles, and is still a living structure. Even within the walls of the Diocletian's Palace people still live, bringing life into this unique monument. There, you will find the oldest cathedral in the world where the Diocletian's mausoleum once stood, and baptistery inside the ancient Roman Jupiter's temple. Wherever you go, you will find dozens of restaurants, bars, shops, streets bursting in life. Old fish and green markets will bring you mood, sounds, flavours and colours of ancient, but still vivid daily life. On the other hand, only few kilometres away in Split hinterland you will find numerous old villages where people still live according to traditions. And above all that, Split also offers excellent beaches with crystal clear water. Marjan hill with a forest park provides endless cycling, hiking, jogging, swimming, climbing opportunities. For Game of Thrones fans, Split and its vicinity were sets for the 4th and 5th season of popular HBO's series, dubbing as city of Meereen. Split's surroundings are also history-filled, with four UNESCO's sites within a two hour drive or ferry sail: Trogir, Šibenik, Mostar and Stari Grad on island Hvar. There are also numerous traditions, customs and produces listed on UNESCO's World Intangible Heritage list. Central Dalmatian coast and islands are one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the Mediterranean, a true paradise for any nature-loving visitors. Daily trips to nearby national parks Krka and Kornati are recommanded. Just as well, you can visit secluded bays and beaches, and other local natural and historical attractions. The Kornati national park is the densest island group in the Adriatic, with small fields, hidden oases of large-crowned pines and olives, quiet and sheltered bays, ideal for escaping the noise and stress of daily life. The cultural traces of the past, scattered all over the rocks of this now so peaceful stone desert, are proof of permanent and restless life in this region. The Krka national park, a string of spectacular waterfalls and canyons can be toured from the water, by road or on foot. It is possible to take an organised boat trip and see Skradinski Buk from Skradin, together with the boat trips to islet of Visovac with medieval Franciscan monastery, or Roški Slap cascades upstream from Skradinski Buk. From the ferry port (300-400 meters from house )there are ferries and speed boats to the Central Dalmatian islands, including Hvar, with another UNESCO's jewel, Stari Grad Plain, or Hvar town with beautiful medieval and renaissance architecture, including the oldest public theatre in Europe. This island is also known for its spectacular night life and sense of global jet-setting. There are also daily trips to islands Brač, with one of the most beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean Zlatni Rat, or history-filled island Vis, with nearby Blue Cave on islet Bisevo
