The Inn is wonderful. The neighborhood is lovely. Proximity to the national park is outstanding. Of note, as a historical building, the floors creak, so if you are a light sleeper you may hear others moving around.

Great overnight stay. Brewery on the property. An upscale General store across the street with a cocktail bar and a Pizza Restaurant. Then Copper Fox Distillery, restaurants, shops and antiques right across the bridge. Close to Luray, Culpepper and lots of Wineries.

A gem in Rappahannock County

Beautiful comfortable room with porch swing for afternoon and late evening relaxing. Tasty breakfast. Beer/ale tasting room in the basement. Thornton River walk steps away. Innkeepers Sherrie and Kevin do it all. We had a wonderful time there and will come back.

The Inn was on a lovely property near a river walk. An amazing ale house is also on the property. Very quaint and comfortable. Games, books and a front porch swing were provided. Our hosts were accommodating and friendly. The Breakfests were exceptional with delightful farm fresh eggs and produce. Overall it was a very relaxing and fun getaway. A side note that Sperryville is a weekend town there was not much to do during the week.

Great short getaway - clean and vibrant!

Hopkins Ordinary was wonderful. Spotless clean, inside and out. Great communication. Super friendly and helpful innkeepers. Gave us recommendations and directions for a hike. Loved having a fireplace in the room - worked well. Beer was great too - a wide selection. We will book again!

Cute place. I enjoyed my room - especially the fireplace and my bed was super comfy. The biergarden was closed so I didn’t get to visit that part of it the property. I had an early flight out of Dulles the next morning so I let her know at check in that I would miss breakfast. Other B&B’s I have stayed at packed me a breakfast to go when I let them know I had to leave early - no such luck here. Which is fine, it’s just a nice touch. So I asked if coffee was possible but nope. A coffee pot in the room or common area would be ideal for folks who have to take off before breakfast. Other than that no complaints, it was a chill stay and a cute little town.

Great Beer and Comfy Beds and Friendly Hosts

I havent stayed at a bed and breakfast in a long time, but I was traveling by myself and this seemed like a great option. The host were fantastic and helped me feel welcomed and recommended a great hiking location the next day (with directions which was good because there was no service on my phone for miles and miles). The room was great, the bed comfortable and i loved sitting on the balcony in the evening when the sun was setting. And the brewery in the basement! I tried two different brews and they were also fantastic with a cute outdoor area to enjoy the beer. Highly recommend this great place!

The main issue with this place is its price. It’s frankly overpriced for what you get. There is some traffic noise in the early morning since the house is close to a road. Breakfast was ok but limited items. Room was ok. I have stayed in many B&Bs and this B&B is not bad. It’s just overpriced ($350) for what you get in terms of room and breakfast. I expected more for the price.

Sherri and Kevin chose their property well and then did just the right things to it. We arrived to the murmurs of several convivial groups sitting outside in back sipping beer and enjoying the early evening. Sherri, the innkeeper half of the duo, was clearly keeping an eye out and promptly got us settled. The inn's location on the main street is busy enough to feel lively but still completely strollable. The cluster of atmospheric old places includes an art gallery or two, a yoga studio, a coffee shop, etc. Our room (the Sage) had a blessedly calm, restrained feel with vintage furnishings and surfaces for suitcases, something which many hoteliers somehow overlook. The bathroom was simple & perfect. Our room included a little outdoor patio space, which we enjoyed for a morning read. Everything was clean and immaculately kept. Kevin invited us to try some of the fruits of his brewing labors. Turns out the basement was a tavern in the previous century or two, and his cozy reincarnation includes a brewery of remarkable quality and variety. Our stay included a delicious home-cooked breakfast with scones, fig jelly, and their savory eggs with prosciutto, arugula, and fresh herbs. Shari and Kevin also provided great recommendations for good dining and hikes in the area, of which there is lots (of both)! They went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of--we would recommend highly.

Perfect place to relax near Shenandoah

My wife and I stayed one night to get away from the city, relax, and explore the area. Sherri and Kevin were gracious hosts, who greeted us with complimentary a complementary drink - which was beer they brew on site. Their beer is delicious. Sherri and Kevin also offered us suggestions for dinner that night (including offering to make reservations for us). The place we ate, at their suggestion was excellent. Upstairs, the room was cute and the rocking chairs on the porch were perfect for the kind of relaxation we were seeking. While my wife napped in the room, I went to the Ale works and drank more of Sherri and Kevin's delicious beer in the very pleasant beer garden. I also bought a couple bottles to take home. I thoroughly enjoyed the pretzel they make there as well. In the morning, we delighted by the multi-course breakfast with homemade scones, served with homemade jam, and local eggs.

We enjoyed our stay at Hopkins very much. Very hospitable but not luxurious. Breakfast was very delicious and the hosts were very helpful. Located in beautiful farm land with national park nearby and great restaurants. We enjoyed the ale from the ale house too.

Don't look any further - Hopkins Ordinary is the best place to stay in Sperryville! We stayed in the Rosemary room, which was very spacious and had a very comfortable bed and pillows. Although it was above the brewery, it was very quiet and we had our own porch to relax on after a long day of hiking. Some of the best hikes in Shenandoah are within a 20 min. drive (e.g. Old Rag, Little Devil Stairs). The location is also great and walking distance between a few local shops, across from a yoga studio, art galleries and other lovely restaurants. Sherri and Kevin were incredible hosts. From the beer tasting in their biergarden to delicious, healthy breakfasts, Sherri + Kevin make sure that we were relaxed and unplugged the entire time. We can't say enough wonderful things about our experience here and can't wait to go back next fall.
