This place not only lived up to our expectations, but exceeded them. The pictures we saw on the VRBO site matched our experience. We used this as our home base for a week's worth of activity in Summit County. The 5 spacious bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths provided us with great lodging options for our large family (parents, two boys rooms and two girls rooms).
The place was clean when we arrived, with plenty of linens and a kitchen with plenty of plates, silverware, glasses, pans, bowls, and utensils. There is a full sized washer/dryer in a laundry room. There is a two car garage that fit one of our vehicles plus our 5 bikes and other outdoor equipment. We could fit two vehicles in the driveway in front of us, so parking 3 vehicles here was no problem. There are 5 additional surface parking for residents/guests, but those are shared with 7 other units, so I can't speak for how crowded that would be during winter season.
I can't say enough good things about the location. It's right on the main strip of Silverthorne, with easy access to the town and shops about a mile away. However, it's also on the north end so it's on the outskirts and the traffic in front of the place wasn't bad. There is a little road noise, but a large privacy fence helps with that.
This place backs right up to the Blue River Trail system, so we were able to easily walk into town numerous times for a Starbucks and Chipotle (and more). We could hear the Blue River while enjoying the cool mountain air while sitting on the upper deck or in the hot tub on the lower deck. The kids LOVED the hot tub, but be careful. One of our party got a good bout of altitude sickness after jumping in the hot tub a couple hours after arriving. The fisherman in our family was disappointed to learn the river directly in back is private water, but there is public fishing access on the Blue River just a short walk south. If you're going to fish, be certain to look up the public access points. I found a good map on the Silverthorne city website.
Our kids made use of the Silverthorne Recreation Center, which was an easy walk. We have Olympic lifters and crossfit trainers in our family -- they found this place more than adequate for their training. The kids LOVED the rec center pool, slide, and climbing wall. The rec center has a punch card that most families would find useful, but it was cheaper for our family to get a one month family pass for $118 (as of July 2018).
