Upon arrival, we were assured that the room was clean. However, this quickly proved not to be the case. The floor was visibly dirty and covered in hair. Although this was resolved promptly after we raised the issue, this is something guests should never encounter in the first place. In addition, the bedsheets were torn, with a noticeable hole and were also stained, which was unacceptable from a both cleanliness and comfort standpoint.
Additionally, there was a serious drainage issue in the bathroom, causing water to pool on the floor for hours after showering. The bathroom taps were unhygienic, with green residue around the spouts, and there were also loose/exposed wires that had not been addressed, posing a clear safety and fire hazard.
While the surrounding area of the property was pleasant and the breakfast was good, we do not feel that the price we paid reflected the quality of the room or amenities provided whatsoever. Had we booked in person on the day of arrival at the hotel, the rate would have been approximately 5,500 INR, yet we were charged almost £90 through Expedia. Paying more than double the in-person rate for a room in this condition feels extremely unreasonable and misleading.
While we understand this was a last-minute booking, that does not justify the condition of the room or the inflated price. Overall, the experience did not meet reasonable expectations for the amount paid, and we believe this issue warrants review.
