Welcome to the "Old Homestead."
If you are looking for a quaint and relaxing getaway, then the Old Homestead is the perfect spot. Located between Shippensburg/Carlisle areas, there is so much to see and do within driving distance. History enthusiast...you have so many places to choose from. Maybe wine is more to your liking...it's a matter of which winery do I choose first. Enjoy hiking...then nearby Michaux State Forest is the perfect place to go or the Cumberland Rails to Trails. Perhaps you prefer to just relax and enjoy dinner on the deck or sit around a firepit and enjoy the evening. Whatever your preference, be sure to enjoy your "home away from home."

The house was very clean an excellent place to stay. Loved seeing the horse and buggies go by. I would advise that the driveway is very steep. The other suggestion would be to replace the commodes with higher ones for folks who have mobility issues. We Loved all the antiques, and the adjustable bed was excellent. We would stay with this host again.

Perfect place

This place was so welcoming and cozy! I literally opened the door to this place and wanted to start shopping lol. I love antiques and vintage decor and this place is exactly that. Everyday I saw something I didn't see the day before. Loved the old photos, I assume to be grandparents and the Valentine decor in every room and the homemade goat soap, snacks and coffee! We will definitely be back.

What a beautiful home! Sparkling clean and stocked well for anything one would need. Close to Gettysburg NP and Carlisle, PA. A lovely quiet location. Would absolutely return.

Feels Like Home

My husband and I felt at home the moment we walked through the door. The house was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Saundra I was a conscientious and courteous host. She responded to all of our questions quickly, and provided a lovely gift basket upon arrival. Saundra also provided all the amenities you could possibly need. She even had a variety of K-cups for the Keurig. There were lots of linens, and the mattress in the master bedroom was so comfortable that my husband and I are looking for one like it. The house is located in a rural area and it’s simply gorgeous. It’s just a short drive to historical sites, parks, museums and lots of restaurants. If we return to the area, we would definitely stay here again, and if we could give this home more than five stars, we would.

This house was the cleanest VRBO house we've ever stayed in and the grounds were lovely. Great care had obviously been taken of the whole property. We liked the rural location and felt very comfortable there.

Home away from home

Old Homestead was very comfortable and charming. Beds very comfortable. We didn’t have any problem falling asleep. House is nicely decorated in collectible items. There are plenty of things to do just at the home such as a firepit, nice patios, books, games and entertainment area on bottom floor. Neighborhood is sounded by beautiful scenery and feels safe. Saundra is a wonderful host. When I’m in that area again I will stay at the Old Homestead

Excellence on every level!

This is the most beautifully decorated, and the most comfortable, vacation home in which we have ever stayed. The owner was immediately responsive to questions. The location is a quiet country setting with other lovely homes about 10 minutes outside of a small town, and yet it is close enough to drive to stores and the historical sites we were interested in seeing. With all the beautiful furnishings I was glad we didn’t have any small children, but it is the perfect vacation home for adults who want to “get a way from it all” and just relax. We give it excellent ratings in every area!
