Hot Tub Cabin + Endless Smoky Mtn views, minutes from Dollywood, Pigeon Forge

Welcome to the Modern Elk, a one-level, 2 bedroom, 1 bath Smoky Mountain cabin that will sleep up to 6 on your next vacation. Only 7 miles to Gatlinburg and 11 miles to Pigeon Forge, your central location will make it easy to explore all the Smoky Mountain attractions - from the theme parks to the great outdoors. Don’t let the proximity fool you - this log cabin is private, nestled near the top of Tekoa mountain. While you can see neighboring cabins from the road, once on the wraparound deck and inside the home you will feel like you’re away from civilization! Now to get to these phenomenal views of the valley below, winding mountain roads are required, but the surfaces are paved throughout. The uncovered parking fits 2-3 vehicles and the cabin has an easy-access ramp to the front door.

Start your day with a coffee and fresh mountain air, taking in the grand vista before you from the 270-degree wraparound deck. You might be surprised by some wildlife activity, whether it’s the chirping of the birds or the quiet grazing of white-tailed deer...perhaps even some bears!

Choose from the fully-equipped kitchen in the great room or the park-style BBQ to prep your meal for family or friends. Wind down at the end of a busy day with a peaceful soak in the hot tub while looking over the mist of the Smoky Mountains, before turning in for the night surrounded by crisp and clean sheets and bedding. You can also jacuzzi indoors while enjoying the 270 degree fireplace in the main bedroom. The king size comfy bed gives you room to stretch out - or get close.

Also with direct access to the generous full bathroom is a second bedroom with a full size bed with twin trundle underneath. This room lets you keep the all-day fun going, with its wall-mounted arcade game. The sleeper sofa in the great room is a nice overflow sleeping spot for the 6th guest.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND HOUSE RULES:

ACCESS: The front door is equipped with an electronic keypad. You will get a personalized door code the day before check-in, so there’s no need to meet anyone for keys. Enjoy the entire cabin to yourself. When you get in the area you can go straight to your cabin, unpack, relax and enjoy. Also, note the backyard is on a steep hill, so access at your own risk.


ROADS: The road is paved from the main road to the cabin. We have a very short winter, but real mountain snow and ice can occur. A 4WD/AWD vehicle, possibly even chains, may be necessary depending on the weather. Cell service can be spotty driving through parts of the mountains (though generally good for most carriers at the cabin), so we highly recommend you download maps of the area for offline use prior to travel in case cellular service is lost.


PRIVATE PARKING: Park immediately in front of the cabin. There is uncovered parking available for 2-3 cars.


AGE: All guests must be 25+ with the exception of children with their parents.


OCCUPANCY: 6 person maximum. Exceeding the maximum occupancy can result in many issues, including a fine by local authorities for not adhering to sprinkler/fire safety, running out of well water, and overflowing the septic tank.


SECURITY CAMERA: There are security cameras on the front porch in place for your protection. If you touch or tamper with the cameras, you will be asked to leave the property immediately without refund. This is for your protection.


SMOKING: This is a NON-SMOKING/NON-VAPING cabin.


WEATHER: No refunds for weather/natural disasters/power outages/other things that are beyond our control. Please purchase travel insurance for coverage.


HOT TUB: The hot tub is for guests age 25 and over ONLY. Alcohol and glassware are NOT allowed near the hot tub. You are not permitted to use the hot tub if you have consumed alcohol or if you are pregnant. Do not dive headfirst into the hot tub. Use the hot tub AT YOUR OWN RISK! Please refer to the hot tub rules posted on the patio for further details.


WELL WATER: Water supply is solely from a private well. It is safe to drink but we suggest bringing bottled water. Although we have a large storage water tank, please be aware that during certain nonspecific times of the year, the well can yield less water than normal. Please practice water conservation to avoid loss of water. Timing of water usage is essential, because high usage will deplete the well before it can replenish. The washing machine and bath tubs are the most detrimental to the well supply and use of these items should only take place during times when water use throughout the rest of the cabin is minimal. After use of these items, the well will need to be replenished so please allow adequate time before additional heavy water use.


OUTDOOR GRILL: A small charcoal park-style grill is provided for your use at the front of the property next to the entrance ramp. You will find grill tools inside the kitchen drawers. Bring your own charcoal. Please make sure to put ash inside the provided ash can, and never leave a fire burning unattended. Put all embers out.


TRASH: Please dump liquids (not oil or grease) into the sink and not into trash bags. Place all trash into trash bags and secure bags in the bear proof trash containers next to the driveway. There is no trash service in the mountains. If the bear-proof trash container is full, please use a trash drop-off convenience center. The nearest trash drop-off is at 3365 Birds Creek Rd, Sevierville, TN 37876


GARBAGE DISPOSAL: Do not throw fibrous foods (broccoli, celery, corn husks, potato peels), coffee/tea, bones, eggshells into the garbage disposal. This will clog the blades and the sink will overflow. Do not put any part of your body in the garbage disposal!


CRITTERS: We subscribe to regular pest service, however this is a mountain cabin in the wilderness. By default, this comes with bugs and other wild animals in the area such as squirrels, bears or snakes. Please practice bear safety (guidelines posted on refrigerator). Remember to keep your doors locked, throw trash in the bear-proof containers, don’t feed or try to approach wildlife, and don’t leave any food outdoors including on the grill or in your car. Leaving doors and windows open invites critters into the cabin!

ROOF:The roof is shingled and insulated, but you may hear the rain or squirrels if they scamper on the roof. Do not be alarmed. You’ll find in the bathroom cabinets a container of singe-use disposable foam earplugs should you require any.


PARTIES: ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES are permitted. Quiet time is after 9:30pm and strictly enforced. If you are night owls, this property is not for you. If you bring more people than reflected on your reservation, you will be asked to leave without a refund. If these rules sound like they won’t work - you have 24 hours from time of booking to cancel penalty-free! Absolutely NO SMOKING allowed.


PETS: We are animal-lovers but pets are NOT ALLOWED. Some of our family members and guests are very allergic to pet dander. Please be considerate and make alternate vacation accommodations for your furry family members. If you must travel with your pet, there are many pet-friendly cabins in the area that can host your family. If you bring a pet of any kind, you will be asked to leave without a refund.


FIREPLACE: There is a gas fireplace which is only turned on from October 1-April 1. Though there are two of them, only the one in the master bedroom is functioning! No outdoor fires are allowed except for the charcoal BBQ grill. No unauthorized fires, including candles, indoors or out.


CHECK IN/OUT: Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 10:00 AM. While we try to go above and beyond to accommodate our guests, we cannot offer early check-ins or late departures, and we do not allow check-ins or check-outs on holidays. This is to allow our cleaning crew ample time to make sure your cabin is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after your stay.


INCIDENTALS:
We provide a starter pack of dishwasher tablets, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap, and kitchen sponge. There is a drip coffeemaker. Depending on your length of stay you may need to purchase more for your stay as needed. We do not provide shampoo or other toiletries, condiments, ground coffee, creamer, sugar, ziploc bags or charcoal.


RENTAL AGREEMENT: By booking this rental, you hereby agree to the house rules listed above. If these rules sound like they won’t work for you - you have 24 hours from time of booking to cancel penalty-free! No third party bookings. Person that makes the reservation must be the person that checks in. In the event of a third-party booking, the reservations will be cancelled with NO refund and the code to gain access to the house will be changed.
