  • “Fair Winds and Following Seas...” is a popular blessing of good luck for those going out to sea.
    The blessing of the Fair Winds House is that it is a peaceful getaway that offers luxury,
    privacy and comfort during your stay at the Oregon coast.

    Fair Winds is a spacious home that sits on five coastal lots that offers privacy and ocean views from the main and upper level. It is the perfect spot for several couples, or families, to visit as all three areas of this home have their own separate entrance.

    You can enjoy the views of the ocean as the sound of the water fountain in the front piazza of the Fair Winds
    drifts through the living room window as you lie on the sofa reading a book,
    or looking out through the expanse of windows past the deck to the ocean.

    This wonderful home is furnished in a comfortable urban style that reflects upscale decor and comfort,
    such as a leather ottoman to rest your feet and a fuzzy blanket to wrap yourself in.
    While relaxing you can watch DISH television, listen to the great CD system or play games located in the side table drawers.
    An electric fireplace will bring warmth and ambience to your evenings in this coastal home.

    Thoughtful touches throughout Fair Winds will make your stay special...
    there are new comfortable beds, extra pillows, a washer/dryer unit, and hair dryers in every bathroom.
    Fair Winds is centrally located at Seal Rock,
    which has large off-shore rock formations that are the habitat of
    seals, sea lions, sea birds and other marine life.
    The Seal Rock State Wayside includes interesting tide pools as well as excellent ocean views and a sandy beach.
    This eastside home is within walking distance to this fantastic park.




    MAIN FLOOR:

    Living room: Beautiful furnishings, TV/VCR with DISH network, DVD player with movies, CD/MP3 player, miscellaneous games. Electric fireplace!
    Dining Room: Butcher block dining table, seating for six.
    Kitchen: Fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave & coffee maker, coffee grinder, wine glasses. Breakfast area with seating for two. Everything you would need to make a great meal or BBQ right on the deck through the sliding glass doors off the kitchen!
    Bedroom 1: Queen size bed, Queen Anne chair.
    Bathroom 1: Tub/Shower, hair dryer, stacked washer & dryer.
    Bedroom 2: Queen Wrought Iron bed, Wing back chair, TV/DISH network, dresser, antique wardrobe, sliding glass door that opens to the deck.
    Bathroom 2: 1/2 bath

    UPSTAIRS:

    Lobby style kitchenette with dorm refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker.

It was the perfect house for our group of friends

We loved staying in this house. There were 8 women and we had the best time. We laughed so much it was a good thing that neighbors were not too close. The house was clean, the furniture and the beds comfortable. It was exactly as described. No complaints at all.

Decent house, had some cleanliness issues

Location was great, the house looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed or cleaned in awhile. A lot of dust, spider webs, and debris on the carpets. Bedding was decent. Towels looked dingy and stained. The living room floor seems like an inch hire than the rest of the house leaving an elevation change which my grandmother kind of tripped on so be careful there. Also the bbq was absolutely disgusting and full of grease and mold so i was forced to run out and buy my own since i had a bunch of meat to grill. I probably won't be going back to this residence. Paying a high cleaning fee when the house wasn't very clean to begin with was a huge disappointment.

This house was a disappointment

This house was such a disappointment. The house was filthy the dishes had dry food on the utensils, coffee cups, plates, and cookware. We had to pre wash everything in the kitchen before we could use it. The carpet had stains all over it and hadn’t been vacuumed. There was candy and food all over the carpet. The microwave door was broken so we couldn’t open it or use it . The coffee pot leaked, the toilet ran all night long in the back bedroom, the upstairs closet door fell on my daughter when she opened it. All the beds squeaked every time you move. They asked that you wash and dry the towels before leaving but the dryer didn’t work and when I tried to get ahold of someone to let them know, no one answered or returned the phone message or text message. We let the maintenance guy know and he was rude about it and said the owner already knows the dryer don’t work and it wasn’t his problem. I could go on and on about this house it was awful. I spent most of our first day there cleaning the house so we could have a clean place to stay .The location was good and the yard was nice. I wouldn’t recommend this house to anyone.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: While we enjoyed our time at this house it was not for a family that likes to cook. The kitchen was small and the refrigerator and freezer was very small for a house this size. We had to use 2 coolers with ice to be able to keep everything cool. We loved the yard and setting. The entry really needs a handrail or 2 as the stairs are very steep to get to the house. With all that said we enjoyed our stay of 11 nights at this house.

What can I say.....?

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent 3days & 4 nights at this location. Getting on & off of the highway onto Seal Rock St. was difficult & dangerous. The 4 steps leading down to the front door lacked a hand rail. The BBQ was dirty, a fire alarm was beeping, the dishwasher wasn't working, the washer wasn't working, there was a leak under the kitchen sink, The linens needed to be replaced & an electrical inspection should be made because an outlet in one of the bedrooms was sparking when anything was plugged in. The front door couldn't be locked from the outside. The owner & manager need to address these issues to make this property safe & comfortable.

We couldn't get the electric fireplace turned on, but individual room thermostats kept us comfortable. Clothes washer was slow, but all appliances worked. Location is great! Ocean views from upstairs, kitchen and deck. Easy drive to lots of beach access and Newport.

Condition

The toilet upstairs had an excess amount of toilet paper and wouldn't flush until plunged. Other than that, everything was fine.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love Bill and Tina and this is not our first stay in this home. We LOVE the new deck and LOVE the home is dog friendly. Overall this is a perfect home for our whole family. However, this time we were very disappointed in how dirty the house was. One bed had dirty sheets :(

Nice location but poor communication

This house is great for a large family but had some big drawbacks. It had a great kitchen and sleeps people in real bedrooms - no hideabeds or futons in common space advertised as beds. But it was difficult to communicate with property manager. We didn’t get the access code for the property until after we were on our way to the property. They advertise the house has WiFi but it didn’t really work. One of our devices connected but basically no bandwidth. The property manager didn’t respond to any of our requests on the provided text line, but the evening AFTER we arrived the property owner called to see if we had gotten in??? Then he proceeded to talk on and on about his challenges installing the keypad - it had nothing to do with us and he just wouldn’t stop talking! As we were leaving we discovered the clothes dryer didn’t work, so we couldn’t complete the task of washing and drying the towels as requested by the owner. Overall it’s a nice house on a quiet street. Probably would not stay again though.

Great Location - comfortable stay.

The location is wonderful just up the hill from Seal Rock State Park. The house was comfortable and served our needs. Only issue was WiFi service is a bit sketchy, but the property manager faces us fair warning! Great family house! Loved our stay!

However it is not well maintained or stocked. We have stayed here twice now and both times the upstairs landing smoke detector has been beeping. Drives me crazy and needs to be fixed. Spider eggs behind armoire in master. Older house with a good location and nice large lot, view of the ocean, but a good value for the money, would rent it again.

Stayed the weekend from a crabbing trip

House was easy to find, easy parking and was close to local areas. House could of been a bit cleaner but not unsatisfied. Deck needs some repair.
